The approach alone tells you everything. A long drive through tall pines opens to a sprawling lakefront property where the Sierra Nevada rises sharply from water so blue it looks retouched. Edgewood Tahoe sits on 235 acres along Lake Tahoe's south shore, a lodge-inspired resort built with locally sourced timber and native stone that earns its grandeur honestly. The architecture borrows from the great mountain lodges of the American West, but the execution is decidedly modern, with floor-to-ceiling windows framing the lake and mountains from nearly every angle. Arrival feels unhurried and grounded, the kind of place where elevation and atmosphere do most of the work.
The 154 guest rooms and suites carry the same material language as the public spaces, with reclaimed wood, custom stone fireplaces, deep soaking tubs, and private terraces that face the lake or the surrounding forest. Many rooms open directly to views of the water, and the scale of the accommodations leans generous, with even standard rooms feeling more like mountain residences than hotel quarters. For those seeking more space, lodge suites expand into full living areas where mornings begin slowly with coffee and the particular stillness that only a high-alpine lake provides.
Dining at Edgewood is anchored by Edgewood Restaurant, a refined lakefront venue where seasonal menus draw from the surrounding landscape and the kitchen treats Northern California and Nevada ingredients with care. Brooks' Bar and Deck offers a more relaxed counterpoint, with craft cocktails and lighter fare served against panoramic lake views that shift through golden, alpine, and twilight registers depending on the hour. The Bistro provides a casual all-day option for guests who want to eat between rounds or spa appointments without changing pace. On-property, the George Fazio-designed championship golf course stretches along the lakeshore and has hosted decades of professional tournaments, making it one of the most storied courses in the region. The spa draws on the mountain setting with treatments that feel considered rather than formulaic, and a fitness center and outdoor pool round out the wellness offering.
Lake Tahoe's south shore provides year-round recreation in every direction. Winter brings world-class skiing at nearby resorts, while summer opens the lake itself to boating, paddleboarding, kayaking, and swimming from the property's private beach. Hiking trails thread through the surrounding national forest, and the clarity of the lake, one of the deepest and purest in North America, remains the constant backdrop. Edgewood Tahoe occupies a rare position: a resort substantial enough to never feel like it's borrowing from its surroundings, yet so embedded in its landscape that leaving the property feels almost beside the point. The rhythm here is set by the water, the light, and the mountain air, and it stays with you well after you've descended back to lower ground.

What we love about this stay
There's a particular quality to a place where wilderness and refinement don't compete but simply coexist — and that's the tension Edgewood gets right. It sits directly on Lake Tahoe's shore, which means the lake isn't a backdrop you admire from a distance; it's the organizing principle of the entire stay. The architecture leans into this, with towering windows that treat the Sierra Nevada like a living mural. What lingers most is the duality — a private beach that feels genuinely secluded, an outdoor pool that mirrors the lake's blue just beyond it, dining that draws on local ingredients with real culinary ambition. It's a resort that shifts dramatically with the seasons, from waterside stillness in summer to snow-covered landscape in winter, yet somehow maintains the same unhurried intimacy. The kind of place that rewards you for staying put.

What an incredible resort! The location is perfect, right on the lake feels like in the most remote area yet minutes from everything. The shuttle can take you anywhere within the area. The resort and grounds itself is spectacular. I’ve never experienced such a 5 star caliber resort that caters to families/children. So many activities and things to do on the grounds. The rooms are very spacious! The beds and pillows are a bit hard but that would be the only thing. 10/10 would absolutely come back and stay longer!

We were there for 2 nights to attend a wedding on the property. The room was quiet, clean with a very comfortable bed and a lovely patio. The property is gorgeous and they did a fabulous job executing the wedding.
