The approach to Hotel 850 SVB reveals a property that belongs unmistakably to its city. Set along the Santa María Golf & Country Club in Panama City, the hotel rises with clean, contemporary lines and a design sensibility that draws from its tropical surroundings without mimicking them. Floor-to-ceiling glass frames views of manicured greens and the urban skyline beyond, and the interiors carry a warm minimalism that feels considered rather than austere. This is a hotel built for the pace of modern travel, where business and leisure blur naturally and the setting rewards those who linger.
Accommodations are spacious and deliberately appointed, with suites and rooms that emphasize natural light, muted palettes, and a sense of openness. Many rooms overlook the golf course, offering a rare pocket of green calm against the backdrop of one of Central America's most dynamic capitals. The property's dining offerings reflect both international polish and local flavor, with restaurants on site that range from refined to casual, allowing guests to shift register depending on the hour. A rooftop pool and bar provide a social anchor, the kind of space where late afternoons stretch into early evenings with a cocktail in hand and the city unfolding below.
Panama City itself is a study in contrasts. The historic Casco Viejo quarter, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, sits just a short drive from the glass towers of the financial district. The Panama Canal, the Biomuseo designed by Frank Gehry, and a thriving culinary scene all orbit within easy reach. Hotel 850 SVB occupies a residential stretch of the city that feels quieter and more grounded than the tourist corridors, giving guests the advantage of proximity without the noise. The surrounding neighborhood offers local restaurants, green spaces, and a sense of everyday Panama that enriches the stay.
What settles in over time at Hotel 850 SVB is a particular kind of ease. The property does not overwhelm with spectacle or excess. Instead, it offers a well-edited experience where design, comfort, and location work in concert. Mornings begin with the soft geometry of sunlight across the golf course. Evenings close with the city's glow reflected in glass. The rhythm here is unhurried but never idle, a place where each detail has been placed with quiet intention and the result feels genuinely livable.

What we love about this stay
There's a quietness to this place that feels earned, not engineered — a boutique hotel on the edge of Beverly Hills that resists the impulse to be loud about its location. The rooms lean into comfort over spectacle, with plush textures and muted palettes that read more like someone's carefully considered apartment than a design statement demanding attention. It's the kind of property where intimacy is the actual luxury: small enough to feel known, polished enough to feel considered. Grab one of the complimentary bikes and you're pedaling toward LACMA or the Petersen in minutes, but returning to the terrace as evening settles has its own quiet pull. What stays with you is the scale — West Hollywood buzzing just outside, and this calm, unhurried pocket holding its ground.

We love the tucked away quiet atmosphere, the music and art in the lobby, our sweet little balcony, and all the people that worked for the hotel. It's a surprisingly serene retreat in the middle of West Hollywood.

Great design. Warm and inviting. Loved the fireplace in my room. Very comfortable bed and pillows with nice crisp sheets. Spacious shower and bathroom. It was a great experience.

Staycation for WeHo Pride. We could not BELIEVE how action packed and noisy everything was just down the way on SMBlvd—going off—and yet how completely tranquil and quiet it was at our lovely hotel, even though it was less than a block away. Slept like a queen (appropriate!) in that perfect bed. Thoughtful and generous amenities throughout: hosted first round of snacks, Tablet Plus small bottle of wine, complimentary bikes and really nice continental breakfast…And, most importantly, just such consistently warm, relaxed hospitality. Such a nice stay through and through. Already talking about making this an annual! Truly, it’s hard to imagine staying anywhere else this restorative for such a boisterous event.
