Hotel Cesar Lanzarote sits along the southeastern coast of the island, a low-slung resort property that draws its character from the extraordinary volcanic landscape surrounding it. The architecture echoes the island's tradition of whitewashed walls and clean geometry, a design language shaped by Lanzarote's most famous son, the artist and architect César Manrique, whose influence is visible across the island and whose spirit quietly inhabits the property's aesthetic. Arriving here, you step into a world defined by bright Atlantic light, dark volcanic stone, and the unhurried rhythm of the Canary Islands.
The rooms and suites are designed with a warm simplicity that favors natural light and comfort over ornament. Many offer views across the resort's gardens or out toward the ocean, with private terraces or balconies that invite long mornings spent watching the sky shift over the water. The property's outdoor pools serve as the social and visual center of the resort, framed by sun loungers, palm trees, and broad terraces where the hours dissolve easily. Whether you settle poolside with a book or take the short walk to the nearby coastline, the pace here is dictated entirely by personal inclination.
Dining at Hotel Cesar Lanzarote is generous and unhurried. The on-site restaurant offers a menu that draws on both international and local Canarian traditions, with fresh seafood and regional ingredients playing a central role. Meals can be enjoyed indoors or on the terrace, where the warm evening air and relaxed atmosphere make dinner feel like something closer to a ritual than a scheduled event. The bar and lounge areas offer a place to gather after dark, with cocktails and conversation flowing easily in the soft island evening.
Lanzarote itself is one of the most visually striking islands in the Atlantic. The Timanfaya National Park, with its otherworldly lava fields and geothermal activity, lies to the west. The Jameos del Agua and Cueva de los Verdes, both shaped by volcanic tubes and reimagined by Manrique, are among the island's most celebrated cultural landmarks. The vineyards of La Geria, where vines grow in hollows carved into black volcanic soil, produce wines unlike anything found elsewhere in the world. From Hotel Cesar Lanzarote, these experiences are all within easy reach, making the property a natural base for exploring the island's singular terrain.
What stays with you after a visit is the quality of the stillness. Not emptiness, but a sense of being held by a landscape that has been shaped by fire and sea over millennia, and a property that understands the value of letting that landscape speak for itself.

What we love about this stay
There's a particular kind of calm that comes from staying somewhere small, adults-focused, and set just far enough from the obvious tourist pull — and this place in the quiet village of Mácher has it. The volcanic landscapes of Lanzarote feel close here, raw and unhurried, but the property itself leans into lush gardens and soft, well-considered comfort rather than anything stark. It's the contrast that stays with you: rugged island terrain just beyond, blooming flowers and palm shade within. Mornings feel genuinely personal, with à la carte breakfast that nods to Italian and continental traditions using local ingredients. The outdoor pool isn't a scene — it's a punctuation mark at the end of a day spent cycling the dramatic terrain or simply doing nothing of consequence. This is a place for people who already know what they like and don't need convincing.

Where do I begin to do justice to this extraordinary hotel? My wife and I have had a challenging year and wanted a place to disappear, relax and reboot. The Cesar Lanzarote was the perfect retreat. From the moment we arrived and greeted warmly by Debbie, the hotel took over and we didn't leave the exquisite surroundings for 6 days. The location - while not for everyone (it may seem secluded) was ideal for us - literally far from the madding crowd! The food, the staff, the sunsets and martinis (created by both Gabriel and Isaac) were spectacular. The room was beautifully designed and were blissfully quiet. Every day (we lost track of time) was a joy! And after our trip was over, we reluctantly left the hotel ready to rejoin the real world but it was a truly beautiful and memorable escape.

This is a spectacularly beautiful well designed/decorated small intimate hotel that was a real treat. The staff was very engaging, friendly, and helpful. We were greeted by Debbie who was warm, effusive, and happy to share suggestions and recommendations of activities to see/do, restaurants for lunch and dinner. Every place we went recommended by her was special. Highly recommend this hotel and unique venue.
