Hotel Henrietta occupies a narrow Georgian townhouse on Henrietta Street, just steps from Covent Garden's piazza. The entrance is discreet, almost deliberately easy to miss, which feels like the point. Inside, the scale is intimate and the aesthetic is layered rather than minimal. Bold wallpapers, rich jewel tones, vintage finds, and contemporary art fill a property that feels more like a well-traveled friend's London home than a conventional hotel. Every surface carries personality. The design leans into texture and color with a confidence that gives each room its own distinct character.
The rooms at Hotel Henrietta are compact in the way that central London townhouse hotels inevitably are, but they make every square foot count. Expect statement headboards, deep-hued walls, carefully curated artwork, and bathrooms finished with attention to detail that belies the building's modest footprint. Categories range from cozy to more spacious options, each dressed with a mix of custom pieces and found objects that resist any sense of uniformity. The effect is personal and specific, a hotel that could only exist in this building, on this street.
Downstairs, the ground-floor restaurant Henrietta Bistro anchors the social life of the property. The dining room carries the same eclectic visual energy as the rooms above, with banquette seating, candlelight, and a menu rooted in French bistro cooking with seasonal British inflections. It draws a mix of hotel guests and neighborhood regulars, which keeps the atmosphere lively without ever tipping into scene. The bar area adjacent to the restaurant offers cocktails and wine in a setting that feels right for a late-night drink after a show at one of the nearby theatres.
The location is arguably the hotel's greatest asset beyond its design. Henrietta Street places you in the cultural center of London's West End, surrounded by theatres, galleries, independent shops, and the daily energy of Covent Garden itself. The Royal Opera House is moments away. The galleries and bookshops of Cecil Court and Charing Cross Road are a short walk. The Thames, the Strand, and Soho are all within easy reach on foot. It is the kind of address that makes taxis feel unnecessary and exploration feel inevitable.
Hotel Henrietta is a property that trusts its own taste. There is no lobby to speak of, no spa, no rooftop bar. What it offers instead is a point of view, expressed through color, pattern, art, and a sense of proportion that makes a small London hotel feel genuinely distinctive. You leave remembering the wallpaper in your room, the bistro dinner that lingered longer than planned, and the pleasure of staying somewhere that feels curated by a person rather than a brand.

What we love about this stay
There's a particular warmth here that feels neither staged nor accidental — Dorothée Meilichzon's interiors layer saffron and terracotta against exposed brick and brass in a way that reads less like a design hotel and more like a place someone actually lives in, thoughtfully. You feel it in the custom details, the reading lamp placed just so, the linen-filtered light that makes mornings feel unhurried. The ground-floor restaurant pulls locals who know what they're doing, and the bar has that rare quality of making a single glass of Burgundy feel like enough of an evening. Saint-Germain gives the whole thing its backbone — literary, walkable, quietly serious about beauty — and the staff seem to genuinely inhabit the neighborhood rather than just work in it.

I stayed at the Hotel Henrietta with my entire family. It was fantastic -- best hotel in town. Excellent drinks, coffee, food, and service. Very large, tasteful rooms with beautiful bathrooms (and amazing showers). Gamechanger for NOLA.

The Hotel Henrietta made my trip to New Orleans a delight. The beds were a so cozy. I need to buy all of that bedding for my bed at home. The rooms provided a peaceful respite. The coffee and bagels were delicious. This Hotel is so cute and I loved the location in the more calm Garden District area. It was also a relief to be able to park our rental car in the small gated parking area behind the hotel. Thank you to all the lovely staff at the hotel for being part of a great stay.

I love me a good bagel, and this meal did not disappoint. Best bagel in NOLA (New Orleans) The restaurant in this hotel had delicious food and a calming ambiance. I almost wished I stayed here instead! And the hotel is well located to catch the streetcar, which is exactly what we did after filling our stomachs with epic bagels. I would absolutely come back here!
