A long gravel road cuts through ten hectares of parkland before the main house comes into view. House of Jasmines sits at the foot of the Andes in Salta province, a colonial-style estancia originally built in the early twentieth century, its whitewashed walls and terracotta rooflines set against a backdrop of green hills and open sky. The property carries the scale of a private country estate rather than a conventional hotel, with grounds that stretch across gardens, grazing pastures, and centuries-old trees whose canopy frames nearly every sightline. Arrival here feels like entering someone's deeply personal, lovingly maintained home, one that happens to occupy some of the most striking landscape in northwestern Argentina.
Accommodations are spread between the original casona and surrounding buildings, each room individually designed with period furnishings, handwoven textiles, and artwork that reflects the cultural traditions of the region. Suites open onto private terraces or garden views, and the interiors balance rustic warmth with a sense of understated comfort. Common spaces include a living room centered around a fireplace, a library stocked for long afternoons, and a dining room where meals draw from the estate's own organic garden and orchard. The kitchen works closely with local ingredients, and dinners often feature regional specialties from the Argentine northwest, served family-style in settings that shift between the formal dining room and open-air tables under the trees. A swimming pool sits within the gardens, framed by loungers and flowering hedges, offering a quiet counterpoint to the property's more active pursuits.
House of Jasmines serves as a natural base for exploring the dramatic geography of Salta and the surrounding valleys. The Quebrada de Humahuaca, the Calchaquí wine valleys, and the vivid rock formations of the region are all within reach, and the property arranges excursions by horseback, vehicle, or on foot. Back on the estate, horseback riding across the property's own terrain is a signature experience, guided by local gauchos who know the land intimately. The rhythms here follow the sun and the seasons, and days tend to organize themselves around morning rides, long lunches, afternoon swims, and evenings spent around the fire with a glass of Torrontés from a nearby vineyard.
What stays with you is the generosity of the place. Not luxury performed for effect, but the kind of ease that comes from a property deeply rooted in its land and its culture. The jasmine that gives the estate its name blooms across the grounds, its fragrance drifting through open windows and along garden paths, a small, persistent reminder that everything here grows from something real.

What we love about this stay
There's a quality here that's hard to manufacture—the kind of deep quiet that only comes from being genuinely tucked into a landscape, not just positioned near one. House of Jasmines sits in Salta's rolling foothills with the ease of a property that belongs to its surroundings rather than competing with them. The earthy, country-inflected interiors feel considered but never fussy, and the jasmine that scents the air isn't a boutique candle—it's actually growing here. What lingers is the sense that the estate operates at the rhythm of the land around it, from gardens dense with native flora to a pool that reflects the Andean peaks beyond. It's a place for travelers who want their elegance unperformed and their wine local.

Stepping back in time to a natural world of beauty, birdsong, and comfort. Exceptional breakfast, extraordinary setting/grounds, beautifully designed rooms and common/sitting areas, lovely artwork/artifacts throughout, amazing pool and views of the mountains, turn down service with a surprise treat each evening, delicious dinner selections, and warm/welcoming service from everyone. One of the nicest places I have ever stayed. Our stay felt like being welcomed to a friends "country home" for the weekend. Perfect!
