The approach to Jekyll Ocean Club sets a tone that the rest of the stay sustains. Rising along the southeastern shore of one of Georgia's Golden Isles, the property occupies a stretch of Jekyll Island oceanfront where live oaks give way to wide Atlantic views and the pace shifts decisively. The architecture is coastal and contemporary, with clean lines and a warm material palette that feels deliberate rather than decorative. This is a resort built around proximity to the ocean, and nearly every element of the design reinforces that relationship.
Accommodations are configured as spacious suites, each with a private balcony oriented toward the water. The layouts are generous, with full kitchenettes, separate living areas, and an emphasis on natural light that makes even quieter hours feel connected to the landscape outside. Floor plans range from studio-style suites to larger multi-room configurations suited to families or longer stays. The interiors carry a restrained coastal palette, comfortable without overstatement, and designed to encourage the kind of settling in that shorter hotel stays rarely allow.
The resort's public spaces are anchored by a oceanfront pool area that serves as the social center of the property, flanked by cabanas and attended service. Eighty Ocean Kitchen & Bar offers dining that draws on the coastal Southeast, with seafood-forward menus and an atmosphere calibrated to the setting. For more casual moments, poolside food and beverage keep the rhythm easy. A fitness center rounds out the on-site wellness offering, while the beach itself remains the most elemental amenity, accessible directly from the property and stretching along Jekyll Island's eastern coast.
Beyond the resort, Jekyll Island rewards exploration. The island's historic district preserves a collection of Gilded Age cottages from the era when Jekyll served as an exclusive retreat for America's wealthiest families. Miles of paved bike trails wind through maritime forest and marshland, and the Georgia Sea Turtle Center offers a distinctly regional experience just minutes from the property. Driftwood Beach, with its sculptural landscape of sun-bleached trees, has become one of the most photographed stretches of coastline in the Southeast. The island operates with a conservation-minded ethos, limiting development and maintaining a sense of natural quiet that distinguishes it sharply from busier coastal destinations.
Jekyll Ocean Club belongs to a broader collection of properties on the island, and benefits from shared access to golf courses, additional dining, and a full-service spa at the neighboring Jekyll Island Club Resort. But its identity is its own. The feeling here is one of deliberate proximity, to the water, to the salt air, to the particular light that moves across a barrier island through the course of a day. It is the kind of place where the afternoon stretches without apology, and where the distance from the everyday feels less like escape and more like restoration.

What we love about this stay
There's a particular quiet that belongs to Jekyll Island — not emptiness, but a kind of unhurried ease that feels genuinely rare along the Georgia coast. The Ocean Club leans into that rhythm rather than fighting it, offering a property where the Atlantic isn't just a backdrop but the organizing principle. You feel it in the balconies oriented toward the water, in the lobby fireplace that anchors the space with warmth rather than grandeur, in the way five dining venues manage to feel like distinct moods rather than redundant options. Eighty Ocean Kitchen & Bar, with its daily seafood and ocean-facing setting, is the kind of place where lunch stretches longer than planned. This is a stay that suits people who want polish without performance — couples, families, anyone who finds their best version of themselves when the pace drops and the horizon opens up.

We just wrapped a fantastic week at the Ocean Club. It was our first time and we really, really loved it. Our reserved room had an AC issue but they worked thru that with us prior to arrival to find a suitable alternative. Great service. The choice between Island and Ocean Club was a hard one and we really loved both properties but ultimately, with kids, we think it was great to be located at the beach for easy access and then spend time at the Island Club, as we wanted. It truly gave us the best of both worlds and both locations are fantastic. Very different....a tale of two vacations, really....but such a cool experience. The beach was beautiful, quiet, soft white sand and plenty of space. Low tide does go down far enough that it'll turn muddy for awhile but that was always during peak heat and we were fine doing something else anyway. No issues for us as the other nearby beaches remain primarily sand. The rooms were comfortable for our family of four but I do think they're ready for a deep clean, post the summer season. The floors were greasy and just need a good cleaning. I do also wish they had slightly more options for a kitchenette. Even a microwave and toaster would go a long way for families whose kids have 24/7 snacking needs. Most of the staff were totally pleasant and food service was fine although they need more casual poolside food options. All in all, we loved it and would happily return and recommend it to others!
