Jekyll Ocean Club rises from the southeastern shore of Jekyll Island, a barrier island off the Georgia coast where maritime forests give way to wide, undeveloped beaches and the pace of life slows to something closer to the rhythm of the tides. The resort's architecture is coastal contemporary, clean-lined and light-filled, with floor-to-ceiling windows that orient nearly every space toward the Atlantic. Arriving here feels like stepping into a version of the Georgia coast that balances modern resort luxury with the island's long history as a place of retreat and restoration.
Accommodations are designed as residential-style suites, many featuring full kitchens, separate living areas, and private balconies that look out over the ocean or the resort's landscaped grounds. The scale of the rooms lends itself to longer stays and an unhurried daily rhythm. On property, the oceanfront pool serves as the social center, a sprawling deck where guests settle in for hours between swims and walks along the beach just steps away. For dining, the resort offers options that range from relaxed poolside fare to more considered coastal cuisine, with menus that draw on the seafood traditions of the Georgia lowcountry and the surrounding Golden Isles. Guests also have access to the broader amenities of Jekyll Island Club Resort, which connects Jekyll Ocean Club to a wider collection of dining venues, a spa, and a historic clubhouse dating to the Gilded Age.
Jekyll Island itself is one of Georgia's most distinctive coastal destinations. Much of the island is protected land, laced with bike trails that wind beneath canopies of live oaks draped in Spanish moss. Driftwood Beach, with its sculptural landscape of sun-bleached trees, sits a short ride away. The Georgia Sea Turtle Center and the historic district, home to restored cottages from the island's era as an exclusive winter retreat for America's wealthiest families, add layers of character that set Jekyll apart from more developed beach destinations. The island's deliberate conservation means there are no high-rises competing for the horizon, no boardwalk crowds, just a long stretch of coast that still feels remarkably untouched.
What lingers about Jekyll Ocean Club is the way the property lets the island do most of the work. The design is polished but never overwrought, the service is attentive without formality, and the setting rewards those who are content to move slowly. Morning coffee on a balcony overlooking the ocean, an afternoon spent cycling through the maritime forest, dinner as the sun drops behind the mainland marshes. The resort doesn't compete with its surroundings. It simply provides the most comfortable place from which to take them in.

What we love about this stay
There's a particular quiet that belongs to Jekyll Island — not emptiness, but a kind of unhurried ease that feels genuinely rare along the Georgia coast. The Ocean Club leans into that rhythm rather than fighting it, offering a property where the Atlantic isn't just a backdrop but the organizing principle. You feel it in the balconies oriented toward the water, in the lobby fireplace that anchors the space with warmth rather than grandeur, in the way five dining venues manage to feel like distinct moods rather than redundant options. Eighty Ocean Kitchen & Bar, with its daily seafood and ocean-facing setting, is the kind of place where lunch stretches longer than planned. This is a stay that suits people who want polish without performance — couples, families, anyone who finds their best version of themselves when the pace drops and the horizon opens up.

The room was really amazing with the pool right outside and the beach just a few yards farther along. The only thing I wasn't super impressed with was the food at 80s Ocean. It used to be much better but has lost a step or two. For those prices, it should be the best restaurant on Jekyll.
