The Luxe Sunset Boulevard Hotel sits on eleven acres at the western stretch of Sunset Boulevard, where Brentwood meets Bel-Air and the city's restless energy begins to loosen its grip. The property is set back from the road, screened by mature trees and landscaped grounds that feel more like a private residential compound than a conventional hotel. Arriving here, you sense the shift immediately. The architecture is low-slung and California modern, open to the sky and the surrounding greenery, with an ease that reflects the quieter side of Los Angeles.
The hotel's 162 guest rooms and suites are designed with warm, contemporary interiors that favor clean lines, natural light, and neutral palettes. Many rooms look out over the gardens, the courtyard pool, or the Bel-Air hills beyond. The grounds themselves are the defining feature: a heated outdoor pool surrounded by cabanas and lounge seating serves as the social center of the property, while pathways wind through gardens that make the scale of the place feel generous and unhurried. There is a fitness center on site, and the hotel offers a range of meeting and event spaces that draw from the property's residential character rather than corporate convention.
Dining at the Luxe Sunset Boulevard Hotel is anchored by an on-site restaurant that serves California-inflected cuisine in a setting that opens to the outdoors, reinforcing the property's connection to its landscape. The bar and lounge spaces carry the same relaxed sophistication, designed for lingering rather than passing through. Whether guests gather poolside during the afternoon or settle into a quieter corner of the lobby after dark, the rhythm here tends toward long, unstructured hours rather than tightly scheduled itineraries.
The location is one of the property's most distinctive assets. Brentwood is one of Los Angeles's most coveted residential neighborhoods, leafy and walkable in a city that rarely is. The Getty Center rises just minutes away. Santa Monica and the Pacific coastline are a short drive west. UCLA's campus sits nearby. Yet despite its proximity to all of this, the hotel maintains a sense of remove, a feeling of having stepped just far enough off the main current of the city to breathe differently. This is not the version of Los Angeles that performs for visitors. It is the version that residents know and protect.
What stays with you after the Luxe Sunset Boulevard Hotel is not a single dramatic gesture but a cumulative impression: the light filtering through the trees, the unhurried pace of a morning by the pool, the particular stillness of a Brentwood evening. It is a hotel that understands the luxury of space in a city where space is the rarest thing of all.

What we love about this stay
There's something disarming about a hotel on Sunset Boulevard that actually feels quiet. The Luxe occupies this unlikely pocket of seclusion — lush, private, tucked just far enough from the city's noise to make you forget you're minutes from UCLA, the Getty, and Rodeo Drive. Warm tones run through the interiors like a design philosophy rather than a palette, and the spacious rooms with their private patios feel genuinely residential, not staged. It's a place that suits the kind of traveler who wants Los Angeles without performing it. The Sunday jazz brunch at On Sunset hints at the hotel's personality — unhurried, sensory, a little celebratory — and dining poolside at night carries that same ease. What stays with you isn't any single grand gesture but the balance: cosmopolitan enough to feel connected, calm enough to actually rest.

The grounds, outdoor setting and waterfalls were serene and inviting. The Scirocco restaurant was pleasant with good food and pleasant service. Above all, the Luxe has a good location and excellent value for money.
