The approach tells you everything. The road climbs through stands of aspen and evergreen, past the groomed runs of Deer Valley Resort, until the ridgeline reveals a structure that belongs to the landscape as much as it presides over it. Montage Deer Valley sits at 9,100 feet in the Wasatch Mountains of Park City, Utah, built from native timber and stone in a style that recalls the great mountain lodges of the American West but at a scale and refinement that feels distinctly its own. Massive hand-hewn beams frame views of Empire Canyon. The lobby opens onto a great room anchored by a towering stone fireplace, where the atmosphere shifts from arrival to something more settled, more expansive. This is a hotel that earns its presence on the mountain.
Accommodations range from well-appointed guest rooms to multi-bedroom residences, many featuring full kitchens, private balconies, and wood-burning fireplaces. The suites are generous, designed for families and longer stays as much as weekend escapes, with interiors that draw on rich textures, natural materials, and mountain light. Across the property, public spaces encourage gathering without crowding. A billiards room, a cinema, and a bowling alley sit alongside quieter corners for reading or conversation. The ski valet and direct ski-in, ski-out access to Deer Valley Resort make winter seamless, while warmer months open the property to hiking, fly fishing, mountain biking, and horseback riding through the surrounding canyons.
Dining at Montage Deer Valley unfolds across several distinct venues. Apex is the signature restaurant, offering refined American cuisine in a setting that matches the occasion. Burgers & Bourbon brings a more spirited energy, with craft cocktails and a menu built around indulgent comfort food. Yama Sushi provides Japanese-inspired fare, while Vista Lounge offers lighter bites and cocktails against panoramic mountain views. For morning fuel, Daly Grind serves coffee and pastries in a relaxed grab-and-go format. The Spa at Montage Deer Valley is a 35,000-square-foot facility with indoor and outdoor pools, a full menu of treatments, steam rooms, saunas, and a fitness center that rivals any standalone gym. In winter, the rooftop hot tubs become a ritual of their own, set against the cold mountain air and a sky that seems impossibly close.
Park City itself sits just minutes below, with its historic Main Street lined with independent restaurants, galleries, and shops. The town carries the legacy of its silver mining origins alongside its identity as one of the premier mountain destinations in North America, home to the Sundance Film Festival each January and world-class terrain across two resorts. But the particular achievement of Montage Deer Valley is that it gives you very little reason to leave. The days here take on a rhythm shaped by altitude and season, by long meals and longer views, by the particular stillness that settles over a mountain property when the lifts stop turning or the summer light stretches toward ten o'clock. It is a place built for people who want the mountains without compromise.

What we love about this stay
There's a particular quality to a place that manages to feel both grand and intimate at once — Montage Deer Valley holds that tension beautifully. Perched high in the Wasatch Mountains, it doesn't just offer proximity to the slopes; it dissolves the boundary between resort and mountain entirely, with ski-in/ski-out access that makes the landscape feel like an extension of your suite rather than something you commute to. What lingers, though, is the sensory layering — the fireplace warmth meeting cold alpine air, steam curling off the heated outdoor pool against snow-capped peaks, spa treatments threaded with mountain botanicals. Seven restaurants feel almost implausible until you realize the place is calibrated for people who want to stay put and still feel like they're discovering something new each evening.

My wife and I had a short staycation here in June 2025. Beautiful hotel among the best in Deer Valley. The vista view is incredible! Relaxing outside peacefully taking in the view from the spa after massages was the highlight of our stay.
