The approach tells you everything. A long drive threads through 258 acres of working vineyards, heritage oak groves, and rolling Sonoma County terrain before the property reveals itself, low-slung and grounded, its architecture drawing from the agricultural vernacular of Northern California's wine country. Montage Healdsburg is not perched above the landscape or set apart from it. It belongs to it. The buildings sit within the contours of the land, clad in materials that echo the barns, estates, and agrarian structures that have long defined this corner of the world. Arriving here feels less like checking into a resort and more like being handed the keys to a vast private ranch.
Accommodations are arranged across the estate in bungalow-style guest rooms and multi-bedroom residences, each designed with wide-plank floors, fireplaces, and deep soaking tubs, along with private outdoor spaces that look out over vineyard rows or oak canopy. The scale is generous without being ostentatious. Interiors lean into a restrained California palette of warm wood, natural stone, and woven textiles, and the sense of privacy is immediate. Larger residence-style accommodations offer full kitchens and expansive living areas, making the property feel equally suited to couples and families or multi-generational groups settling in for a longer stay.
Dining across the estate reflects the agricultural identity of the region. The signature restaurant sources from an on-site culinary garden and surrounding farms, grounding each menu in seasonal Sonoma produce and estate-grown ingredients. A more casual poolside restaurant offers lighter fare against a backdrop of vineyard views, while the bar provides a natural gathering point for evenings spent working through the property's deep wine program. Wellness is anchored by Spa Montage, which incorporates vinotherapy and botanically driven treatments in a setting that extends into the outdoors, complemented by a fitness center, yoga offerings, and a serene pool environment that feels carved into the hillside. Beyond the spa, the property offers hiking and biking trails across the estate, guided tastings, and a roster of seasonal programming that connects guests to the working landscape around them.
Healdsburg itself sits just minutes away, a small-town square lined with tasting rooms, independent shops, and some of Sonoma County's most celebrated restaurants. The surrounding AVAs, from Dry Creek Valley to Russian River Valley and Alexander Valley, place the property at the geographic center of one of California's most storied wine regions. Yet for all its proximity to the town and its vineyards, the estate's acreage creates a sense of remove that makes departure feel optional.
What lingers about Montage Healdsburg is the rhythm it encourages. Mornings begin slowly, with coffee on a private terrace overlooking the vines. Afternoons dissolve into spa treatments or vineyard walks. Evenings gather around garden-driven dinners and unhurried glasses of wine. It is a property built not to impress upon arrival but to deepen with every hour spent within it.

What we love about this stay
What stays with you here isn't the luxury itself but how thoroughly the property absorbs its setting — Sonoma's vineyards aren't a backdrop so much as a through line, showing up in the artisanal details of each room, in a menu that shifts with the seasons and pairs with wines drawn from the surrounding hills, even in spa treatments built around local ingredients. The architecture holds a quiet tension between contemporary design and natural materials that feels earned rather than styled, and those expansive windows in every room do something generous: they make the landscape feel like it belongs to you. It's a place for people who want wine country without performance, where cycling through vineyard-lined paths or simply sitting on your balcony facing the mountains carries the same unhurried weight. The kind of stay that lingers not as a highlight reel but as a mood you can't quite shake.

Montage Healdsburg was amazing! Came here for a girls trip and it was such a beautiful property. The room was clean and spacious along with amazing housekeeping and nightly turn-down service. Spa was great as well. Lisa as my masseuse and she was so thorough and welcoming with my spa services. Hazel Hill was delicious. The town was quaint and had amazing shopping from locally owned boutiques. Plus, Montage will take you to the Plaza and pick you up. Our flight was delayed and the concierge handled our transportation services and were able to extend our checkout, which was beyond convenient and helpful. A few shoutouts….thank you so much to these people that made things extra special… Nicte Archie Travis Jake Hailey Matthew (Hazel Hill) Andrea Chantel Also, literally everyone we came into contact with, was helpful, kind, engaging, and overall so accommodating. Montage Healdsburg you have a great property and team. Thank you!!

The Montage is such a stunning and blissful place to stay in wine country! The service and people were always very nice. Upon arrival, they greeted us with a "splash" of welcome wine and drove us to our room via golf cart. The rooms are beautifully appointed...ours had a vineyard view with a fire pit on the patio to enjoy the gorgeous wine country sunsets! The resort has great amenities, including free use of e-bikes (2 hrs each day, then you pay $30/bike/hr beyond that). The gentleman who loaned us the bikes was very helpful and directed us to a lovely ride up Dry Creek, this was a highlight of our trip. We also had the opportunity to dine at Hazel Hill, which was very good. The views of the property from the patio at the restaurant are lovely. Literally the only issue we encountered was pretty consistent long waits at valet to grab our car, despite requesting via text in advance. The team was always super friendly and apologetic, but something seems like it's not quite humming with their process. The property is also a haven for wildlife, with birds, foxes, owls, deer and turkeys (heard them every morning) wandering around. We even had a baby deer literally lounging next to our window every day! We had a magical trip and would highly recommend the Montage!
