The elevator opens and the horizon takes over. Floor-to-ceiling glass frames the Sea of Cortez in a wide, unbroken panorama, the water shifting between deep cobalt and pale turquoise depending on the hour. This is the Ocean Front 3bd/3.5bth Penthouse in Danzante Bay, a top-floor residence set within the gated resort community of Villa del Palmar at the Islands of Loreto. Perched along the Baja California Sur coastline, the penthouse occupies a privileged position where desert landscape gives way to white sand and open sea. The scale is generous and the orientation is deliberate: every principal room faces the water.
Three bedrooms and three and a half bathrooms spread across an open plan that feels more like a private coastal home than a hotel suite. The living area flows into a full kitchen outfitted for long stays, with stone countertops and modern appliances that make self-catering feel effortless. A spacious dining area seats the full party comfortably, and the transition from indoors to out is nearly seamless. The private terrace extends the living space into the salt air, offering unobstructed views of Danzante Island and the surrounding islands of the Loreto Bay National Marine Park. Bedrooms are quietly appointed, each with its own bathroom and enough separation to grant real privacy.
The wider Danzante Bay resort grounds provide the communal rhythm of the stay. Multiple swimming pools are scattered across the property, some tucked into garden settings, others oriented toward the coastline. A full-service spa draws on the region's natural elements, and a fitness center rounds out the wellness offering. Several on-site restaurants serve both casual poolside fare and more composed evening dining, giving guests the flexibility to move between relaxed and intentional meals without leaving the resort. A championship golf course, designed to wind through arroyos and desert terrain with ocean views, sits adjacent to the property for those drawn to sport.
Beyond the resort gates, the town of Loreto offers a quieter, more historic counterpoint to the Cabo corridor further south. One of the oldest settlements in the Californias, Loreto's mission church and central plaza anchor a small but genuine town center. The waters offshore, protected as a UNESCO World Heritage marine park, draw snorkelers, kayakers, and seasonal whale watchers. Island-hopping excursions to Danzante and Isla del Carmen are easily arranged, and the diving here is considered among the best in the Gulf.
What stays with you is the sense of proportion. The penthouse is large enough to host a family or a small group of friends in real comfort, yet the views and the silence keep drawing you back to the terrace, to the edge. The desert light shifts constantly across the water, and evenings bring a stillness that feels almost theatrical. It is a place where days pass slowly and deliberately, shaped by the tide and the sun rather than any itinerary.

What we love about this stay
What strikes you first isn't the scale of the space—three bedrooms, three and a half baths, a private pool—but how quietly it all sits against the Sea of Cortez. The penthouse in Danzante Bay feels less like a rental and more like someone's deeply personal retreat in Ensenada Blanca, where neutral tones mirror the sand and the open layout keeps the ocean in your sightline no matter where you drift. There's a private entrance, which changes the psychology of arriving—no lobby, no shared hallways, just you stepping into something that already feels yours. The balcony is where the property earns its keep, offering an unobstructed relationship with the water that shifts from afternoon light to a genuinely dark, star-filled sky. It's a place built for people who want proximity to nature without sacrificing the kitchen or the thread count.

This might be the best golf course I have every played. A must play! Carlos Zamora took very good care of us ask fro him by name. Beautiful views on both the front and back 9 so you must play the full 18. The fair ways are amazing and the greens are a bit slow but that's ok with me. The entire course was very well maintained, along with a beautiful driving range. My advise: ask for Carlos Zamora, Bring balls, keep your tee shot down the middle and put straight at the hole except a few holes on the back 9.
