There is a particular kind of ease that belongs to West Hollywood, a neighborhood that has always understood the difference between spectacle and style. Palihouse West Hollywood lives inside that distinction. Set along a tree-lined stretch just off the Sunset Strip, the property occupies a 1920s Spanish Colonial Revival building whose arched doorways, terra cotta details, and courtyard proportions recall an era when apartment living in Los Angeles was designed to feel like a permanent vacation. The lobby reads more like the living room of a well-traveled friend than a hotel reception, layered with vintage furniture, collected art, and the kind of patina that cannot be manufactured.
The rooms and suites here lean residential in the truest sense. Studios, one-bedrooms, and loft-style suites are outfitted with full kitchens, hardwood floors, and a mix of period furnishings and modern essentials that make extended stays feel less like booking and more like settling in. Velvet sofas, open shelving, and eclectic artwork give each space its own personality, and the layouts favor living over lounging. Some units open onto small balconies; others sit tucked beneath original beamed ceilings. The effect throughout is something closer to a creative's pied-à-terre than a traditional hotel room.
The ground-floor restaurant and bar serve as the social anchor of the property, drawing both guests and neighborhood regulars into a convivial, all-day atmosphere. The courtyard offers a quieter counterpoint, shaded and unhurried, where mornings with coffee feel distinctly Angeleno. Palihouse West Hollywood does not chase the energy of the Strip so much as offer a private threshold to it. The clubs, restaurants, and cultural venues of West Hollywood are minutes away, while the property itself operates at a gentler tempo, one designed for people who want proximity to the city's creative pulse without being consumed by it.
What stays with you is the feeling that this is not a place passing through a trend cycle. The building has decades of character embedded in its walls, and the interiors honor that history without preserving it in amber. Palihouse West Hollywood belongs to the guests who prefer their luxury a little worn in, a little personal, and entirely without pretense.

What we love about this stay
Palihouse West Hollywood sits in that rare sweet spot between residential ease and boutique intention — it feels less like checking into a hotel and more like borrowing a very stylish friend's apartment on the edge of Beverly Hills. The custom furniture, the Bellino linens, the Diptyque in the bathroom — these aren't luxury flourishes so much as signals that someone here actually cares about texture and taste. There's a saltwater pool that functions as the property's social center, unhurried and sunlit, and the proximity to the Beverly Center, the Farmers Market, and The Grove means you're woven into the neighborhood rather than observing it from a distance. It's a place that rewards people who want L.A. to feel lived-in, not performed.

My family and I had a wonderful experience at Palihouse. It’s in the perfect location, has chic decor, and I give rave reviews on the staff, the cleanliness and the service.

Super cute hotel. Great relaxing vibe. Room with balcony overlooking street a little loud (for some) didn't bother me. Room was clean with plenty of snacks and drinks to purchase.

Attention was clearly given to all the little details at this home away from home. I especially appreciated all the quasi private nooks and crannies throughout the property for catching up on work, and my re-assigned room was cute as a button. (I hardly slept my first night as I did not anticipate the noise of the city outside my window, but Meghan was genuinely sympathetic to my case and moved me to a much quieter room facing the interior courtyard and pool the following night.) A million thanks to Tim, Emory, and especially Joey at the restaurant and bar for making my stay such a lovely and memorable experience. I will definitely return in the future!

Fabulous location. Very spacious and comfortable room with good showers and comfy beds. Did not use room service or visit restaurant. Gym was tiny and claustrophobic but pool area was very nice. Ice delivery took forever. Would definitely stay again!
