The drive south from La Paz reveals a landscape that feels almost sculptural, arid hills softening into farmland before the Pacific appears on the horizon. Paradero Todos Santos sits within this convergence, a design-driven hotel spread across 24 acres where desert terrain, agriculture, and ocean proximity coexist in a single property. The architecture is bold and low-slung, built from rammed earth, concrete, and locally sourced materials that seem to rise from the ground rather than rest upon it. Arrival feels more like entering a private compound than a traditional hotel, with open-air corridors, terraced landscapes, and structures that blur the boundaries between interior and exterior space.
The property's 35 suites are conceived as individual volumes within the landscape, each oriented to maximize privacy and connection to the surrounding terrain. Floor-to-ceiling glass, private outdoor soaking tubs, and curated interiors ground the accommodations in a sense of tactile minimalism. Beyond the suites, the property unfolds into a series of experiences designed around its setting. An expansive pool anchors the social heart of Paradero, while the on-site farm supplies much of what appears on the table at the hotel's restaurant, where Baja's culinary identity is expressed through hyper-local ingredients and open-fire cooking. Mezcal and craft cocktails draw from the region's agave traditions, connecting the bar program to the broader culture of the peninsula.
Wellness at Paradero is physical and immersive rather than passive. The Ojo de Agua spa integrates water-based rituals, sound healing, and treatments rooted in Mexican healing traditions, while the property's adventure programming extends well beyond the gates. Surfing, hiking, whale watching in season, and excursions into the Sierra de la Laguna mountains position the hotel as a base for genuine exploration. The on-site organic farm is not merely ornamental; guests can participate in harvesting and cooking experiences that bring the land's productivity into direct focus.
Todos Santos itself has evolved from a quiet colonial town into one of Baja California Sur's most compelling cultural destinations, with galleries, independent restaurants, and a creative community that lends the area a spirit distinct from the resort corridors further south. Paradero draws from this energy without replicating it, offering instead a self-contained world where the desert's stillness and the Pacific's restlessness exist in constant dialogue. What stays with you is not a single moment but a rhythm, the way mornings begin slowly at the farm, afternoons dissolve at the pool, and evenings settle around fire and mezcal under a sky that seems unreasonably close.

What we love about this stay
There's a tension here that works beautifully — desert meeting oasis, contemporary architecture holding space for traditional Mexican craft — and the property never tries to resolve it. Instead, it leans into that duality, letting you feel the rawness of the Sierra de la Laguna landscape through floor-to-ceiling glass while the interiors stay warm and grounded. It's a place where the outside doesn't stay outside, and that's entirely the point. The spa draws on local ingredients and older rituals rather than imported wellness trends, which says something about the sensibility at play. Dining under open sky with Pacific-caught seafood feels less like a curated moment and more like a natural consequence of where you are. Todos Santos itself — its galleries, its color, its unhurried streets — is close enough to explore but never competes with the quiet the property holds. This is a stay that rewards stillness without demanding it.

We had such a beautiful time celebrating our friend at her wedding on property and spending the weekend. The staff were all incredibly attentive and accommodating, everyone went above and beyond for us, and Caesar was wonderful when we needed some special requests met. Being on property was very tranquil and relaxing and we will definitely go back
