What we love about this stay

Lecce is full of interesting historic buildings, churches, Roman ruins, museums. Very compact attractive town which comes alive at night. August very busy and expensive but lots happening. Also good place to stay to visit other fascinating places like Otranto, Gallipoli, Melpignano & Galentina.

We spent the last week of June touring the Puglia region, cooking and visiting small local wineries as we wanted to know more about Puglian wine and food. Considered that not all of us were great wine connoisseur, Andrea and Angela offered to combined for our group their introductory wine course with the classic wine tour of Puglia that they regularly offer. The all experience was well over expectation and we strongly recommend this wine school in Lecce to all wine and food enthusiast looking for a wine holiday in Puglia.

I loved this hotel. My stay was excellent from start to finish. I stayed here for four nights around Christmas. The service was impeccable. Friendly and accommodating, the staff will speak to you in Italian or English as you wish. A rare treat, they offer made-to-order eggs served, if you want, with delicious sautéed vegetables. The lobby is elegant and comfortable for lounging. My room and my friend’s room were both very comfortable, with great showers (something I’ve come to find is NOT a given, even in good hotels). To top things off, the location is exceptional. Steps from the hotel is the beautiful Chiesa di San Matteo, and other baroque wonders are just a few minutes away. I heartily recommend this hotel.

Pollicastro is a wonderful hotel in the center of the great city of Lecce. The inside is like an art museum with exciting sculptures and mixed media. The room was wonderful. The breakfast could not have been better and I had to leave early the last day and they packed e a breakfast box. Also the have an amazing second floor roof garden. It will definitely my hotel when I go back to Lecce.

Just off the amphitheatre is a fairly secluded row of bars, cocktail bars and restaurants with outside seating immediately outside the respective outlets and a covered central seating area in the centre of a square - this is where we experienced great service, delicious food and a few cocktails. Served but the horribly attractive Sam (21 apparently on 7th August 2014) he was patient and spoke very good English. Omitted meat from dishes if we wanted to try them, and was overall a really positive face to the restaurant. Four delicious cocktails (B52 was strong, Urban frozen was delicious, Long Island really nice according to my wife) and Sex on the Beach (always refreshing) complemented Sidewalk Salads and Crostinis and the whole experience was laid back and relaxing. That is until I saw my wife was taking quite a shine to lovely Sam and outrageously flirting, telling me that she thought his flies were undone (they weren't, just a designer Italian thing). When he asked how sex on the Beach was I asked him boldly if he had ever had sex on the Beach........ and he replied a little too honestly! Order Sex on the Beach and if Sam is working he'll give you great service and a giggle or two. All great fun, great selection of cocktails and range of light foods, very tasty.
