Post Hotel & Spa
Where the Bow River bends through Lake Louise, a mountain lodge built for lingering
Reserve this StayPost Hotel & Spa
The first thing you notice is the timber. Massive hand-hewn logs frame every corridor, every doorway, every window that opens onto the Bow River and the peaks beyond. Post Hotel & Spa sits along the river in Lake Louise, Alberta, a property that has evolved over decades from a modest roadside inn into one of the Canadian Rockies' most respected mountain lodges. The architecture is deliberate in its warmth, built from wood and stone in a style that feels earned rather than affected, each wing and addition layered into the landscape with the kind of care that only time and family stewardship can produce.
Accommodations range across a generous variety of room types and configurations, from riverside cabins tucked along the banks of the Bow to spacious suites with wood-burning fireplaces and private balconies facing the mountains. Many rooms feature soaking tubs, sitting areas, and views that shift with the seasons, from snow-laden evergreens in winter to the vivid greens of a Rocky Mountain summer. The property's scale is intimate enough to feel personal but substantial enough to provide genuine variety, whether you are settling in for a weekend or a longer mountain stay.
Dining at the Post Hotel is anchored by a celebrated restaurant offering refined European-influenced cuisine, with a wine cellar that holds one of the most distinguished collections in Canada. The cellar itself, stocked with thousands of bottles and recognized with repeated Wine Spectator Grand Awards, is a serious draw for guests who appreciate thoughtful pairings and depth of selection. Beyond the main dining room, more casual options allow for relaxed meals throughout the day, and the Fondue Stübli offers a cozy Alpine tradition that suits the setting perfectly. The Outpost Pub provides a more laid-back atmosphere for après-ski drinks or evening gatherings.
The spa is a central part of the experience here, featuring an indoor heated pool, a steamroom, and treatment rooms where therapies draw on the restorative spirit of the mountains. Outside, the property's position within Banff National Park places you at the doorstep of Lake Louise, Moraine Lake, and some of the most iconic hiking and skiing terrain in North America. In winter, world-class slopes at Lake Louise Ski Resort are minutes away. In summer, the surrounding trails, lakes, and alpine meadows offer the kind of access to wilderness that most mountain lodges can only gesture toward.
What stays with you after Post Hotel & Spa is the sense of proportion. The fire in the lounge, the river just beyond the glass, the weight of real timber overhead. It is a property where comfort has been refined across generations without losing its directness, where the mountains remain the point, and everything inside exists to make the return from them that much sweeter.

What we love about this stay
There's a particular quietness to a place that lets the landscape do most of the talking, and that's what you feel here — wood-paneled warmth, a fireplace that crackles like it means it, and the Canadian Rockies pressing in from every window. It's not trying to be sleek or metropolitan; the luxury is in how deeply rooted it feels, how the pine-scented air outside and the plush interiors inside seem to belong to the same story. You sense it was built for people who actually want to be in the mountains, not just near them. The dining leans into local ingredients with real conviction, and the wine list suggests someone here cares about the details guests never think to ask about. It's the kind of place that earns loyalty — not through spectacle, but through a steady, unhurried warmth that stays with you well after the peaks disappear from your rearview mirror.

Your experience comes first! This is a great hotel with experienced staff at every position. Regardless of their precise job, they were knowledgeable about every aspect of the hotel, the location, and the tourist interests. They were there to make your experience better. The lobby and room decor/arrangement make one feel welcome and cozy immediately. The hotel has all the amenities such as pool, fitness room, spa, fine dining restaurant, casual restaurant, etc. It is located within a 10 minute walk of Lake Louise "village". Internet reception was good.

Exceptional Property The hotel is in a lovely location next to Lake Louise Village and alongside a pretty river. The staff were very polite and attentive and the room was very comfortable. There was a cozy bar with an open fire, which had a great drink selection and snack plates. We enjoyed the complimentary afternoon tea and a swim in the pool and spa.

We had a fabulous stay. The Post was very welcoming and cozy. We have never stayed at a hotel with a working fireplace before, and it was a very pleasant treat. We would highly recommend this to our friends and family.
