The approach alone sets the tone. RAAS Jodhpur stands at the base of the imposing Mehrangarh Fort, its 18th-century haveli structure restored and reimagined into a contemporary boutique hotel that feels less like a conversion and more like a conversation between eras. Red sandstone walls frame courtyards and stepped terraces, their geometry echoing the fort's own monumental architecture while remaining intimate in scale. The original structure, once a cluster of residences within the old walled city, has been carefully preserved and expanded with sensitive modern additions, creating a property where hand-carved jharokhas sit alongside clean-lined glass and steel.
The hotel's 39 rooms and suites are spread across heritage and contemporary wings, each drawing from the tones and textures of Jodhpur itself. Sandstone, lime plaster, and locally sourced materials shape interiors that feel rooted rather than decorated. Many rooms open to views of the fort above or the blue-washed houses of the old city below, and the varying configurations reflect the organic architecture of the original haveli. Baradari, the hotel's all-day dining restaurant, occupies a pillared pavilion overlooking the central courtyard and pool, serving a menu that moves between Rajasthani and broader Indian dishes alongside international selections. Darikhana, a more intimate space, offers refined dining in a setting that nods to the region's royal culinary traditions. The rooftop terrace provides a vantage point for sundowners with the fort looming directly above, its battlements catching the last of the evening light. A stepped swimming pool sits in the courtyard, flanked by stone arcades that provide both shade and a sense of enclosure. The spa draws on traditional wellness practices, offering treatments that incorporate local ingredients and techniques.
Jodhpur's old city begins at the hotel's threshold. The winding lanes of the Navchokiya neighborhood, the clock tower market, and the ancient stepwells are all within walking distance. Mehrangarh Fort, one of India's largest and most formidable, rises directly above the property, its presence constant and commanding. The city itself carries a distinct character among Rajasthan's destinations, its indigo-washed buildings earning its identity as the Blue City, its craft traditions still very much alive in the bazaars and workshops that surround the hotel.
What stays with you at RAAS Jodhpur is the quality of proximity. The fort is not a distant silhouette but a companion, its sandstone walls close enough to study in changing light. The old city is not a curated experience but the actual neighborhood you step into each morning. The hotel does not recreate Jodhpur's heritage behind its walls. It opens directly onto it, grounding every moment in something specific and unhurried.

What we love about this stay
RAAS Jodhpur sits in the kind of proximity to Mehrangarh Fort that most hotels can only photograph from a distance — here, the fort isn't scenery, it's a neighbor, looming over your breakfast at Darikhana with a presence that makes the meal feel almost ceremonial. The property carries itself with a quiet confidence rooted in Haveli architecture, where carved stone archways and filigree detailing feel less like restoration theater and more like a building that simply never forgot what it was. Jasmine drifts through the courtyard, a fountain murmurs, and the scale stays intimate enough that you feel held rather than hosted. It's a place where Rajasthan's royal past doesn't perform for you — it just settles around you, unhurried and genuine.

One of the best stays that I’ve ever had. The property is beautifully designed - like a hidden cache of green, fertile ground in a desert. The staff demonstrated high attentiveness without the overwrought, hammy nonsense that you receive throughout India. Instead, the staff seemed kind and dignified - an attitude commensurate with the beauty of the facility. The hotel advised us, at checkin, that we should not tip anyone until checkout - at which time, the hotel would share our tip across its staff. The room was super comfortable with a large, well-appointed bathroom. We enjoyed the pool (where the staff would occasionally serve complimentary snacks (eg roasted corn-on-the-cob, sweet lassi, etc…). We really enjoyed the hotel restaurant more than other food venues in the city. No complaints! Really great place!
