The approach alone recalibrates your sense of scale. Rising from the Zorlu Center in the Beşiktaş district, Raffles Istanbul occupies the upper floors of one of the city's most striking contemporary towers, its curved glass façade catching light off the Bosphorus in a way that shifts with every hour. You arrive not through a garden gate or a cobblestoned drive but by ascending into the sky, stepping out into a lobby where floor-to-ceiling windows frame a panorama that stretches from the European shore to the hills of Asia. This is a hotel that exists above Istanbul rather than within it, offering a perspective on the city that feels both intimate and impossibly vast.
The 181 rooms and suites are generous in proportion, designed with a palette of warm neutrals, Turkish-inspired accents, and that ever-present glass wall pulling the Bosphorus into every space. Many accommodations feature dedicated living areas, deep soaking tubs positioned near windows, and the kind of spatial luxury that allows a long stay to feel unhurried. The signature suites expand further into residentially scaled layouts where entertaining and privacy coexist with ease. Throughout, the design references Ottoman craft and geometry without mimicking it, threading silk textures, carved woodwork, and brass detailing through a distinctly modern architectural frame.
Dining at Raffles Istanbul spans several distinct concepts. Arola offers Mediterranean and Turkish cuisine with an emphasis on seasonal ingredients, its dining room and terrace oriented toward the water. Rocca, the hotel's Italian restaurant, brings handmade pastas and coastal flavors to an intimate setting. For more casual moments, the Long Bar provides cocktails and lighter fare in an atmosphere that nods to the Raffles tradition of convivial evening gathering. The Writers Bar, quieter and more contemplative, serves afternoon tea and spirits in a setting designed for conversation and pause. Together, these outlets create a rhythm of dining that moves from celebratory to reflective without ever requiring you to leave the building.
The Raffles Spa occupies a full floor, offering an extensive menu of treatments alongside a vitality pool, hammam, sauna, and indoor swimming pool. The fitness center shares this level, its cardio and weight stations overlooking the city. For those drawn to Istanbul's cultural density, the hotel's position in Beşiktaş places you within reach of the Bosphorus waterfront promenades, the historic Dolmabahçe Palace, and the galleries and boutiques of the Zorlu Center directly below. Sultanahmet's mosques and bazaars, Karaköy's creative district, and the Princes' Islands ferry terminals are all accessible, though the temptation to remain suspended above it all is real.
What stays with you is the duality. Raffles Istanbul is both a vantage point and a retreat, a place where one of the world's most layered cities reveals itself through glass while the interior remains calm, warm, and unhurried. You look out at minarets and tankers and the shimmering seam where two continents nearly touch, and then you turn back to a room where nothing demands your attention but the fading light on the water.

What we love about this stay
There's a duality here that's hard to find elsewhere — a hotel that sits atop one of Istanbul's most contemporary complexes yet greets you with the warm, resinous whisper of oud in the lobby, as if insisting you slow down before the city pulls you in every direction. The design leans modern and precise, but bespoke artworks throughout the rooms anchor you in something distinctly local, a quiet nod to heritage that never feels performative. What lingers most is the sense of elevation — not just the Bosphorus views from those generous balconies, but the feeling of being slightly above the city's magnificent chaos, close enough to feel its pulse, removed enough to breathe. The dining pulls in multiple directions without losing focus, from Mediterranean at Rocca to the moody elegance of Isokyo. It's a place that suits the traveler who wants Istanbul's intensity on their own terms.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Outstanding Stay – True Raffles Luxury We are currently staying at Raffles Istanbul and have been genuinely enjoying our time here. From the moment we arrived, we felt well looked after. The welcome was warm and thoughtful, and the team made a real effort to ensure our family was comfortable throughout our stay. A special thank you to Abdul Qader, the Rooms Director, who personally ensured we were placed in an excellent suite. The room is extremely spacious, beautifully arranged, and offers incredible city views. His professionalism and attention to detail really stood out and made a big difference to our overall experience. Housekeeping during the day has been excellent, and the general atmosphere of the hotel feels calm, refined, and private — ideal after extensive travel. We were also assisted by a dedicated team from the butler service, led by Lale, who was part of the group allocated to support us. The team was attentive, polite, and efficient, always making sure requests were handled smoothly and with care. We also appreciated the thoughtful touches for our children on arrival, including the balloons and bed setup, which made them feel instantly welcome. Overall, Raffles Istanbul delivers the level of service, comfort, and elegance that one expects from the brand. It has been a memorable stay, and we would happily return and recommend it to others visiting Istanbul.

This was our first stay at this beautiful hotel, and from the moment we arrived, every member of the staff demonstrated an exceptional level of professionalism and genuine courtesy. We have stayed at Four Seasons properties around the world, yet the service at this hotel truly exceeded our expectations. Our Junior Suite was beautifully designed and tastefully decorated, offering both comfort and elegance. The breakfast buffet was outstanding, with an exceptional selection of fresh fruits and high-quality local products, including delicious yogurt and artisanal jams. Dinner at Isokyo was equally memorable. Every dish was excellent, and we especially enjoyed the Turkish Chardonnay, which impressed us with its refined taste and aroma. What truly set this stay apart was the care and attention shown during an unexpected situation: my wife broke her nail and needed medical attention, and one of the hotel managers personally accompanied her to a local hospital to ensure she was properly treated. This level of service and thoughtfulness made our stay unforgettable. We look forward to returning.

At the Zorluh, Raffles Hotel is attached. As we've been to the Long Bar in Singapore we wanted to check out the Long Bar here. But sadly it's only open on a Friday and Saturday. However the hostess was super friendly and took us through to another bar/restaurant where we enjoy a drink and the views.
