The road narrows as it climbs through olive groves and ancient dry-stone terraces, the landscape growing wilder and more vertical with every turn. Then the estate reveals itself: 680 acres of pristine Mallorcan countryside cascading from the Serra de Tramuntana mountains down to the coast, where three private coves meet water so blue it looks hand-painted. Son Bunyola Hotel is Richard Branson's Virgin Limited Edition property on Mallorca's unspoiled northwest coast, a place where the scale of the land dwarfs everything else and the architecture feels like a natural extension of the terrain.
The estate comprises a collection of accommodations spread across the grounds, anchored by the main hotel and complemented by three standalone villas: Sa Punta de s'Aguila, Sa Terra Rotja, and Son Balagueret. Each villa offers complete privacy with its own pool, gardens, and dedicated staff, while the hotel rooms and suites provide a more connected experience with access to the estate's shared spaces and dining. The interiors balance traditional Mallorcan craftsmanship with understated contemporary comfort, stone walls meeting warm textiles, terracotta floors grounding rooms that open onto terraces overlooking either mountains or sea. The pool area serves as a natural gathering point, its infinity edge drawing the eye toward the Mediterranean horizon.
Dining at Son Bunyola reflects the estate's agricultural character. The restaurant draws from the property's own gardens and orchards, where citrus, almonds, and olive trees have grown for generations. Meals lean toward honest, seasonal Mallorcan cooking elevated by careful sourcing and precise technique. The bar offers a more relaxed pace, a place to settle in with local wines as the light shifts across the valley. A spa provides wellness treatments that incorporate Mediterranean botanicals, and the estate's grounds invite long walks through forests of holm oak and Aleppo pine, past centuries-old stone walls that trace the contours of the hillside.
The surrounding Serra de Tramuntana, a UNESCO World Heritage landscape, is among the most dramatic terrain in the Mediterranean. The villages of Banyalbufar and Valldemossa sit nearby, their stone streets and terraced hillsides preserving a version of Mallorca that predates the island's resort identity by centuries. From Son Bunyola, you can hike down to the estate's private coves, kayak along the coast, or simply watch the light move across the mountains from a terrace that feels genuinely removed from the world. This is an estate where time bends around the land itself, where the rhythm of the day is shaped not by a schedule but by the angle of the sun on stone.

What we love about this stay
There's a quietness to this place that feels earned, not manufactured — the kind that comes from being built into a mountainside village where stone and wood have aged together for centuries. Can Busquets sits in Banyalbufar, a corner of Mallorca that most visitors never reach, and the property carries that same unhurried, uncrowded energy. Rooms are furnished with local artifacts rather than catalog pieces, and the views frame the rugged Tramuntana range in a way that makes each morning feel genuinely singular. What lingers is how close everything feels — terraced gardens heavy with lemon and olive, mountain trails just beyond the door, the sea reachable on foot. It's a place for people who want Mallorca without performance, where dining on local ingredients under open sky feels less like an occasion and more like the natural rhythm of the evening.

In the care of very thoughtful and caring staff in an aesthetically pleasing hotel Pleasant property with very artfully decorated lobby and restaurant. The highlights for me were the friendly and caring staff and the food at the restaurant Doka. Every person we interacted with treated us with patience and thoughtfulness - felt like service at the four seasons. Additionally, the food at the restaurant was great!

A truly special place with wonderful people, great food, and an authentic feeling. We had an unforgettable stay here. The staff were truly exceptional, warm, caring, and always ready to help with a genuine smile. They made us feel at home from the first moment. The apartment is beautiful and full of authentic character, both inside and outside. It’s definitely worth choosing a room with a sea view, waking up, opening the window, and seeing the sea is just perfect. The location is great with a bus stop right in front and by car also easy to reach. The breakfast is excellent, You can sit and eat in several lovely spots, in the cozy little garden, inside the charming dining area, or in front of the apartment, each with its own atmosphere. Some of the evenings the place turns into a fine dining restaurant where you can enjoy unique and delicious dishes. It's a must!
