The road narrows as it climbs through the Serra de Tramuntana, olive groves giving way to pine forest and then, suddenly, to the sea. Son Bunyola Hotel sits within a 680-acre estate on Mallorca's northwest coast, a place where the mountains fall steeply into the Mediterranean and the light shifts between green canopy and open blue without warning. The property is anchored by a restored 13th-century finca, its honey-stone walls and terracotta rooflines unchanged in silhouette, while the interiors have been reimagined with a warmth and sense of craft that honors the estate's deep Mallorcan roots.
Twenty-six rooms and suites are spread between the main finca and surrounding estate buildings, each designed with natural materials, handmade tiles, and locally sourced furnishings that feel collected rather than curated. Three standalone villas on the estate offer a more private experience, each with its own pool and garden, set apart within the landscape of ancient terraces and citrus orchards. The property's outdoor pool looks toward the coastline, framed by the estate's own vineyards and orchards, and a spa offers treatments drawing on Mediterranean botanicals. For those looking to move through the landscape, the estate provides access to hiking trails in the Tramuntana, cycling routes, and paths that lead down to secluded coves along the coast below.
Dining at Son Bunyola is rooted in the estate itself. The restaurant draws on produce from the property's gardens and orchards, as well as olive oil pressed from trees that have grown here for centuries. Meals are served in the finca's dining spaces and on terraces that open to the surrounding groves, with menus that shift with the Mallorcan seasons. A bar within the main house provides a quieter counterpoint, a place to settle in the evening as the mountains cool.
The northwest coast of Mallorca is a world apart from the island's more developed shores. The villages of Banyalbufar and Deià sit nearby, each one built into the terraced hillsides with a sense of permanence and scale that mirrors the estate itself. This is the Mallorca of dry-stone walls, of fishermen's paths winding to the water, of afternoons measured by the movement of shadow across a valley. Son Bunyola belongs to this landscape completely, not as a retreat from it but as an extension of its character. The rhythm here is set by the land, the season, and the particular quality of light that only this stretch of coast seems to hold.

What we love about this stay
There's a quietness to this place that feels earned, not manufactured — the kind that comes from being built into a mountainside village where stone and wood have aged together for centuries. Can Busquets sits in Banyalbufar, a corner of Mallorca that most visitors never reach, and the property carries that same unhurried, uncrowded energy. Rooms are furnished with local artifacts rather than catalog pieces, and the views frame the rugged Tramuntana range in a way that makes each morning feel genuinely singular. What lingers is how close everything feels — terraced gardens heavy with lemon and olive, mountain trails just beyond the door, the sea reachable on foot. It's a place for people who want Mallorca without performance, where dining on local ingredients under open sky feels less like an occasion and more like the natural rhythm of the evening.

In the care of very thoughtful and caring staff in an aesthetically pleasing hotel Pleasant property with very artfully decorated lobby and restaurant. The highlights for me were the friendly and caring staff and the food at the restaurant Doka. Every person we interacted with treated us with patience and thoughtfulness - felt like service at the four seasons. Additionally, the food at the restaurant was great!

A truly special place with wonderful people, great food, and an authentic feeling. We had an unforgettable stay here. The staff were truly exceptional, warm, caring, and always ready to help with a genuine smile. They made us feel at home from the first moment. The apartment is beautiful and full of authentic character, both inside and outside. It’s definitely worth choosing a room with a sea view, waking up, opening the window, and seeing the sea is just perfect. The location is great with a bus stop right in front and by car also easy to reach. The breakfast is excellent, You can sit and eat in several lovely spots, in the cozy little garden, inside the charming dining area, or in front of the apartment, each with its own atmosphere. Some of the evenings the place turns into a fine dining restaurant where you can enjoy unique and delicious dishes. It's a must!
