The land arrives before the architecture does. Driving toward The Cedars Ranch, the road narrows through rolling Hill Country terrain until the property reveals itself gradually: a collection of thoughtfully designed accommodations set across a working ranch landscape outside Wimberley, Texas. Managed by Reverie, a boutique hospitality company specializing in distinctive vacation properties, the ranch operates as something between a luxury retreat and an immersive countryside escape, where the scale of the land defines the pace of every stay.
Accommodations at The Cedars Ranch include a curated mix of cabins, suites, and standalone structures spread across the property, each designed to balance rustic character with modern comfort. Interiors lean into natural materials and clean lines, with generous windows that pull the surrounding cedar groves and open pastures into the living space. The emphasis here is on privacy and space rather than density, and the distance between structures reinforces a feeling of seclusion even when the property is fully occupied. Outdoor areas extend the experience beyond four walls, with porches, firepits, and gathering spaces that orient guests toward the landscape rather than away from it.
The property sits just outside Wimberley, a small creative town in the Texas Hill Country known for its spring-fed swimming holes, local art galleries, and weekend markets along Cypress Creek. The surrounding region offers a quieter alternative to nearby Austin, with opportunities for hiking, swimming at Jacob's Well or Blue Hole, and exploring the wineries and back roads that thread through the hills. The ranch's position provides easy access to these experiences while maintaining enough distance to feel genuinely removed from the rhythms of daily life.
What defines a stay at The Cedars Ranch is not a single amenity or signature experience but rather the quality of time itself. Mornings here tend toward stillness, with light filtering through old-growth cedars and the sounds of the property waking slowly around you. The scale of the land encourages wandering without agenda, and the design of the spaces invites you to settle in rather than schedule every hour. It is the kind of place where an afternoon can disappear into a porch chair and a long view, and where the most memorable moments arrive unplanned. You leave not with a list of things you did, but with the feeling of having been somewhere that asked very little of you and gave back something hard to name.

What we love about this stay
There's a particular quality to a place that leans into the unhurried pace of Wimberley rather than fighting it, and The Cedars Ranch feels like it understands that instinct. It's a property that doesn't try to be everything — instead, it offers a kind of quiet self-sufficiency, the sort of stay where you settle into your room, make your own coffee, and let the day unfold without agenda. The garden and pool give the grounds a sense of breathing room that feels genuinely Texan in its spaciousness. It suits the traveler who wants proximity to the Hill Country without performative rusticity — somewhere grounded, comfortable, and unpretentious enough that you remember how it felt, not just how it looked.

Great getaway. Something different and adventurous Really cool property. Something different, for sure. The cabin was very comfortable and there were some unexpected and fun amenities on the property. It is DARK out there, so we really enjoyed seeing the stars at night. Quiet, safe - and had a nice cool breeze despite it being the summer months. We went in July and I will say that the cabin did get pretty hot during the day (your typical 100 degree Texas Hill Country summer day)...so you might want to go into Wimberly or do a water activity or go somewhere with good AC during the day. But the nights were fantastic.
