From the moment you approach, the scale registers. The David Citadel Jerusalem occupies a privileged position between the Jaffa Gate and the Mamilla neighborhood, its limestone façade echoing the ancient walls that rise just beyond. Floor-to-ceiling windows frame a panorama that few hotels anywhere can rival: the Tower of David, the Old City ramparts, and the densely layered rooftops of a city built and rebuilt over millennia. The architecture is substantial and deliberate, a contemporary interpretation of Jerusalem stone that feels both monumental and warmly composed against the hillside.
Inside, the hotel's 384 rooms and suites are spacious and light-filled, many oriented toward those Old City views that sharpen at golden hour and become something else entirely after dark. The higher-category suites offer generous living areas and private terraces where you can sit with the ancient skyline at eye level. Public spaces are wide and unhurried, designed with polished stone, warm wood, and a restrained palette that lets the city outside remain the focal point. The lobby lounge opens onto a broad terrace, and the outdoor swimming pool, set on an elevated deck overlooking the walls, is one of the most striking hotel pools in the region. A full-service spa provides treatment rooms, a sauna, a steam room, and a well-equipped fitness center for guests who want to decompress after days spent walking the city's steep and storied streets.
Dining at the hotel anchors the experience in both comfort and occasion. The restaurant offers Mediterranean-influenced cuisine with ingredients rooted in the local culinary landscape, while lighter fare and drinks are available at the lounge and poolside bar. Breakfast here is notably generous, a sprawling spread that draws on Middle Eastern and international traditions and sets a tone for the day ahead. Throughout the property, the service carries a certain formality that feels appropriate to Jerusalem's gravity, tempered by genuine warmth and attentiveness.
The location itself is part of the offering. You step outside and you are immediately at the threshold of the Old City, minutes from the Western Wall, the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, and the narrow alleyways of the Armenian and Jewish Quarters. The Mamilla pedestrian promenade, lined with shops and restaurants, extends directly from the hotel's entrance, connecting the ancient and the contemporary in a single walk. It is a rare thing for a hotel of this size and caliber to sit so close to a landscape of such profound historical density. The David Citadel Jerusalem does not compete with its setting. It holds steady beside it, offering a place of comfort, clarity, and quiet scale from which to engage with one of the most extraordinary cities on earth.

What we love about this stay
There's a particular weight to staying somewhere that looks out over a city measured in millennia rather than decades, and this property understands that without overplaying it. The earth-toned rooms feel grounded and quiet — a deliberate counterpoint to the intensity just outside the door. What strikes you is the proximity: the Old City walls, the Western Wall, the Holy Sepulchre, Mamilla's contemporary energy — all within walking distance, yet the hotel holds its own stillness. The pool deck, set against that ancient skyline, is the kind of juxtaposition that only Jerusalem can produce. It's a place for travelers who want to be moved by where they are, then return to somewhere that lets the day settle.

Great breakfast. TERRIBLE customer service. We had 2 problems: neither were adequately addressed. 1) The maid broke a portable waterpik that we had plugged in. They replaced it with an inferior cheaper European model, *which i was only ablwe rio use for 2 days before returning home (not useable in the USA). When I told them that I wanted to have a new one for the US, they insisted that I use the European model for two days and promised me reimbursement afterwards. When we requested compensation for the Waterpik, the manager changed her mind and refused. I insisted that I would never have chosen to use a Waterpik for two days, rather than half a replacement for the one in the US, which I would use for years to come. 2) On an other day when we returned to our room after maid service, our room smelled strongly of smoke. We were concerned that someone came in our room that was unauthorized. We were unable to see Hotel video of who entered into our room. We had to wait hours for a return phone call and for someone to come up to confirm that our room smelled like smoke. The security staff tried to tell us that someone was smoking outside our room, and that the smoke was sucked into our room through a vent, although the hallway didn't smell of smoke. Ridiculous. Both events required us to stay in our room for hours waiting for return phone calls and for staff to come up and address our issues. Customer service at this hotel is terrible compared to the USA.
