The house was beautiful, clean, and thoughtfully designed. Check-in was smooth, the space was comfortable, and everything matched the photos. A perfect spot to relax and enjoy Joshua Tree. Would definitely stay again!

The approach alone tells you something has shifted. Past the sparse, sun-bleached terrain of Joshua Tree, where the high desert stretches in every direction, No Vacancy By The Cohost Company appears as a considered counterpoint to the surrounding wildness. This is a designer residence built for slowness, a place where clean lines and curated interiors meet wide-open sky, and the boundary between indoor comfort and outdoor immersion feels deliberately thin.
The home itself is thoughtfully appointed, balancing modern design sensibility with the warmth that a true desert retreat demands. Interiors lean into a palette and aesthetic that feel native to the landscape without mimicking it too literally. The spaces are open and light-filled, designed for gathering as much as for solitude. Step outside and the property reveals its most compelling features: a hot tub positioned for long evenings under a canopy of stars, and hammocks strung for the kind of unhurried afternoons that the desert practically insists upon. These outdoor elements are not afterthoughts but central to the rhythm of a stay here, drawing guests into the particular magic of the high desert's golden hours and cool, quiet nights.
Joshua Tree's appeal has always been its stark beauty and creative energy, a landscape that attracts those who want to disconnect from the noise and reconnect with something more elemental. The property sits within reach of Joshua Tree National Park, where granite boulders, twisted Joshua trees, and vast desert vistas reward hikers and stargazers alike. The surrounding community offers a handful of notable galleries, shops, and eateries that reflect the area's artistic spirit, though the real draw remains the land itself and the quality of silence it offers.
No Vacancy is the kind of place that rewards you for doing less. Mornings might begin with coffee on the patio as the sun warms the rocks. Afternoons dissolve into a hammock with a book or a slow walk through the surrounding terrain. Evenings settle into the hot tub, where the sky opens up with a clarity that city dwellers rarely experience. The home accommodates small groups comfortably, making it well suited for friends traveling together or couples seeking a private escape with room to breathe. There is no front desk, no concierge, no programmed itinerary. What you find instead is a residence that has been designed with intention, stocked with comfort, and positioned in one of California's most arresting landscapes, a place that asks very little of you and gives back something quietly unforgettable.

There's a particular quietness to a desert house done right — not emptiness, but a kind of deliberate stillness that makes you more aware of everything around you. This place leans into that. The design borrows from the landscape without mimicking it, clean and modern but warm enough that you actually settle in rather than just admire it. Large windows do the real work here, pulling the rugged terrain inside so the rooms feel less like shelter and more like a frame for the world just beyond the glass. What makes it linger is the way indoor and outdoor life blur together — the hot tub, the fire pit, the hammocks all feel like extensions of the living room rather than separate destinations. It's a house that rewards both a group trading stories around the fire and someone who just wants to be alone with the night sky.

We had such a great weekend here. The house was close to the park but tucked away enough to be peaceful and quiet. My family loved stargazing from the big yard — the art bus out there was super cool! The views from the large picture windows were beautiful, and we spent a lot of time playing table tennis and billiards inside the game room garage. The house felt roomy and open with tall ceilings and cement floors but stayed perfectly comfortable temperature-wise. We didn’t cook much, but the kitchen had everything we needed and was nice and spacious. Overall, a perfect spot to relax, explore the park, and enjoy the desert sky.
