A perfect setting and location to relax and explore all there is to do around Mt Hood.

The first thing you notice is the timber. Darkened logs stacked with the honest geometry of another era, a cabin that looks like it was built by someone who understood that a house in the mountains should feel like it belongs there. Retro Mt. Hood Log Cabin sits among the towering pines near Mt. Hood, a place where the forest presses close and the air carries the clean, resinous scent of the Pacific Northwest high country. This is not a polished resort experience. It is something rarer: a genuinely characterful retreat that pairs rustic architecture with a collector's eye for mid-century nostalgia, all anchored by the kind of quiet that only deep woods can provide.
Inside, the cabin leans into its vintage identity with warmth and personality. Wood-paneled walls, retro furnishings, and curated details give the interiors a lived-in charm that feels both playful and authentic. The space is designed for gathering, with a layout that encourages slow mornings around the kitchen and long evenings by the fire. But the property extends well beyond the cabin's walls. A restored Airstream trailer offers a second sleeping option, parked among the trees like a silver capsule from a more adventurous decade. It is one of those details that shifts the entire character of a stay, giving the property a sense of creative generosity that standard vacation rentals rarely achieve.
Outside, the hot tub sits beneath the canopy, steam rising into the cold mountain air. It is the kind of simple, well-placed amenity that defines an evening here. The surrounding landscape is the property's greatest asset: old-growth forest, volcanic peaks, and access to the trails, rivers, and seasonal adventures that define the Mt. Hood corridor. Whether you spend your days hiking, skiing, or simply sitting on the deck watching the light shift through the trees, the rhythm of the place encourages a slower, more deliberate pace.
What stays with you after a visit to this cabin is the feeling of having stumbled onto something personal. The Airstream glinting in the afternoon light, the crackle of a record on the turntable, the particular warmth of a log structure after a day spent outdoors. It is a property built on character rather than convention, and it rewards guests who value atmosphere over polish. The mountain is right there, close enough to feel its weather and its scale, and the cabin holds its ground with a quiet, retro confidence that makes the whole experience feel like a well-kept secret.

There's something genuinely disarming about a place that pairs a handcrafted log cabin with a restored retro Airstream and somehow makes it feel cohesive rather than contrived. The wood-beamed ceilings and robust log construction give the cabin a weight and warmth that feels earned, not staged, while the Airstream parked among the pines adds a playful, mid-century counterpoint that keeps things from ever feeling too serious. It's a property with real personality — the kind of place where the forest does most of the atmospheric work, and the design simply knows when to step aside. The dual-accommodation setup makes it particularly interesting for small groups who want togetherness without losing the ability to retreat into their own space. What lingers most is the quietness of it all — the sense that Mount Hood's woods are doing something restorative that no amenity list could replicate.

We loved this place was great to have the additional space and the hot tub was great after long days hiking. The house and airstream were both clean and comfortable when we got in and were able to settle very quickly. Kitchen was fully stocked as well as extra towels for the hot tub.

Thank You Alice for letting us stay in your place and enjoy nature and all of the surroundings, it was a beautiful escape from the city and helped us reconnect, the cabin was in the perfect spot to be close to all the mountain activity and a short drive to get essentials if needed. Check in and check out was quick and efficient and Alice was quick to respond when we asked questions. I loved the little farmstand that was around the corner from the property and the bakery I walked to every morning on the weekend, plus Alice provided plenty of suggestions that we went to and enjoyed as well, my only suggestion i would’ve liked a little more lighting/seating outside so we could’ve sat outside at night to enjoy nature. Thank you Alice it was a great way to spend our 10 year anniversary we can’t wait to come back!
