Great place, great location, great house!

Two distinct homes sit side by side on a terraced hillside in the Hudson Valley, connected by a shared stairway that climbs through the landscape like a spine of stone. Stairway To Heaven is not a single residence but a paired composition: two luxury artist homes, each with its own character and presence, designed for groups that want proximity without compression. The architecture leans into the terrain, letting the slope dictate the rhythm of arrival, and from the moment you begin your ascent, the sense of elevation is both literal and atmospheric.
The two homes offer generous space for gathering and retreat. Together they accommodate larger groups with the kind of flexibility that a single property rarely provides. Interiors reflect an artist's sensibility, with curated details, considered furnishings, and an atmosphere that feels personal rather than staged. These are homes that have been shaped by creative hands, and the result is something warmer and less predictable than a conventional luxury rental. Expect open living areas that invite long conversations, kitchens built for communal meals, and bedrooms that feel like private studios rather than hotel rooms. The outdoor spaces take full advantage of the hillside setting, offering multiple levels and vantage points where the valley opens up before you.
The Hudson Valley provides the wider context. This stretch of New York State has long attracted artists, makers, and those seeking a slower rhythm within reach of the city. Farm stands, independent restaurants, galleries, and seasonal markets define the surrounding towns, and the landscape shifts between rolling farmland, wooded ridgelines, and river corridors. Whether you spend your days exploring the local food scene, hiking nearby trails, or simply staying put with a book on the terrace, the area rewards both curiosity and stillness.
What stays with you after a visit to Stairway To Heaven is the particular pleasure of having two homes at your disposal, the freedom to spread out across rooms and levels and outdoor spaces without ever feeling distant from the people you came with. It is a place built for the kind of gathering where mornings are quiet and evenings stretch long, where the stairway between the two houses becomes less a path and more a ritual, climbed and descended a dozen times a day until it feels like the most natural thing in the world.

There's a particular kind of quiet that five private acres in the high desert outside Pioneertown affords — not emptiness, but a charged stillness that makes you aware of your own thinking. The two homes here were designed with interiors by Yves Kamioner and Michael Baiamonte, known for their work with Tiffany's, and you feel that sensibility in the bespoke furnishings: pieces that function beautifully but exist as objects worth studying. Expansive windows don't just let light in — they frame the desert as something compositional, shifting through the day. It's a place built for people who make things, or want to remember that they once did, where the fire pit under an absurd density of stars feels less like an amenity and more like the whole point.

A perfect desert retreat for my milestone birthday celebration! After searching extensively for accommodations that could comfortably house our large group, discovering this dual-home property was a stroke of luck.
While I've experienced Joshua Tree numerous times, Pioneertown offered something truly special. The night skies were absolutely mesmerizing—crystal clear and untouched by light pollution, revealing a spectacular display of the stars each evening. The tranquility was unmatched.
Both homes embodied the quintessential Joshua Tree aesthetic with thoughtful design elements and curated touches throughout.
Worth noting: cell service is nonexistent in Pioneertown, but the reliable WiFi in both homes kept us connected when needed.
The hosts' hospitality was exceptional. I would absolutely book this property again without a second thought for my next desert getaway.
