Lovely place, great location. Excellent communication with host. Zero complaints!

The front door opens into a home that has clearly been here a while. Historic 4BR is a spacious Portland residence with the kind of architectural detail that newer builds rarely attempt: original moldings, generous proportions, and the unmistakable presence of a house that has settled into its bones over decades. Managed by Stay Portland, this four-bedroom home accommodates up to ten guests across a layout designed for gathering as much as retreating, with living spaces that flow naturally from one to the next.
The kitchen anchors the ground floor with enough counter space and seating to turn meal preparation into something closer to an event. Common areas are furnished with comfort in mind, balancing the home's period character with contemporary livability. Four bedrooms are distributed throughout the house, offering flexibility for families, friend groups, or multi-generational travel. The configuration allows for privacy without isolation, a quality that distinguishes well-designed residences from those that simply count their beds. Practical details matter here too: laundry facilities, wireless internet, and the essential conveniences of a home rather than a hotel room.
Portland rewards guests who settle in. The city's neighborhoods each carry a distinct personality, from the independent shops and restaurants that line nearby commercial streets to the quieter residential blocks where this home sits. A prime location means walkability and access, the chance to move through the city at your own pace rather than commuting from the periphery. Portland's food culture, its bookstores and breweries, its parks and bridges over the Willamette, all become more available when your base sits close to the action.
What lingers after a stay at Historic 4BR is the particular rhythm a house like this creates. Mornings are unhurried, coffee made in a real kitchen, conversations unfolding across a dining table rather than a hotel lobby. Evenings return everyone to shared space after a day spent exploring in different directions. It is the oldest promise of travel done well: a place that feels like yours for the time you are there, with enough character to remind you that you are somewhere worth being.

There's a particular quality to staying in a home that's been standing for a century — the floors carry a weight that newer places simply can't replicate. This Portland residence leans into that history without over-curating it; the rooms are spacious and pared back, letting ornate cornices and vintage fireplaces speak for themselves against a minimalist backdrop. It's the kind of place where the architecture does the emotional work, and you just settle in. That it sits along Burnside, right in the thick of Portland's culinary energy, gives the whole stay a satisfying tension between quiet domesticity and urban restlessness. You come back, you decompress in the backyard, and the house feels earned. It suits a group — friends, family — who want proximity to each other and to a neighborhood that rewards wandering on foot, but who also want a door to close behind them at night that feels like more than a hotel room ever could.

Great place for a big group! Easy checkin, walkable to everywhere we wanted to go and easy checkout where we didn’t have to clean half the place ourselves. Beds were super comfy too!
