Where the rainforest meets the Caribbean and adventure begins by boat

We traveled to Casa Cayuco at the beginning of March and had the most amazing time. There were 8 of us total (two couples and four kids ages 7-11) and we stayed in the Estrella de Mar. The house was beautiful with plenty of space for the 8 of us. We were able to walk right out to the ocean or sit on one of the many decks and relax and enjoy the view. It was also great with kids because the ocean was shallow so we were all playing in the ocean all the time. We also enjoyed the different excursions with the highlights being the trip to the Mangroves for Snorkeling and the trip to Monkey Island. The daily food that was provided was also delicious and we really enjoyed getting know other families at the meals. Paula was incredibly welcoming and made us feel right at home. I wish we could go back again tomorrow! You should have no hesitation booking a stay at Casa Cayuco.

We had such an amazing time at Casa Cayuco! It was such a magical place. They accommodated all of our dietary needs and we had a wonderful time on the excursions, especially the mangrove snorkeling. We also loved just hanging out at the resort and paddleboarding with the nurse sharks! Perfect blend of peace, quiet, and adventure!

I can't say enough good things about Casa Cayuco. I haven't felt so relaxed in years. My kids were in heaven. It is very small and private so it does not feel like any resort I've ever been to. We stayed in the "Mono" cabin which was amazing; so private and each morning we could see a family of monkeys swing by outside. The oceanfront is perfect for relaxing as the water is comfortably warm and it's so shallow near the shore you can just sort of lay in the ocean and hang out. We also enjoyed the kayaks and paddle boards and it was a very safe environment for our kids to try them out. Each morning the manager would come by to discuss what "adventures" we wanted to try that day and then everything was immediately and smoothly taken care of. They were very attentive to detail and even noticed that we had become friendly with another family and made sure to accommodate us together for the excursions, all of which we enjoyed immensely. The one thing I would say is that the accommodations are rustic (almost like glamping) and the vibe laid back. If you are looking to swan about a fancy resort to see and be seen in designer gear, look elsewhere. If you want to make fantastic family memories and truly be immersed in nature, this is your place.

This is such a dream vacation spot! Even getting there is an adventure, as you have to go by boat or water taxi. The staff were so attentive. Every day, twice a day they came to suggest which adventures would be best based on the weather and let us decide which activities, if any we wanted to participate in. We went to "Monkey Island" and "Sloth Creek" one day. The monkey experience was up close and personal, for sure. We got to hold, pet or feed 4 different kinds of monkeys. We must have seen 7 or 8 sloths at Sloth Creek. We snorkeled in a mangrove area. There were a lot of brightly colored coral, starfish, jellyfish, sea urchins and sponges and even a seahorse! We toured the local village as well and explored a bat cave! The bat cave was so cool but definitely not for the faint of heart. It was a very adventurous adventure. The food was awesome. Very fresh and very tasty. Drinks and smoothies were reasonably priced and also delicious. The accommodations were unique. We stayed in the Loro suite which is bascially open air with just a mosquito net around the bed. It felt like camping. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. On site at the lodge there was a caimen that we spotted several times, some turtles and a sloth family with a baby! For anyone looking to have a unique and adventurous vacation, this is absolutely the place to go! There were a lot of families with kids as well, so it's absolutely family friendly.

If I could give Casa Cayuco a 10 star review I would! We stayed here for four nights over March Break with our 11 and 14 year old boys and had such an amazing stay! We stayed in the Tortuga cabana on the beach for three nights and had an impromptu one-night sleepover in the treetop Mono cabin because it wasn't booked and the kids thought it was the coolest (Thanks again Jack!). Everyone involved with this place is awesome - Jack, Paola, Jose, Josue etc etc etc....We went on multiple excursions (salt creek, sloths, monkeys, mangrove snorkeling, fishing, bat cave) and lazed around in hammocks, played board games, hiked on the paths around the island and drank too many delicious smoothies to count. The kids went fishing with Jose and Josue and caught a boatload of tuna and snapper which we ate for dinner. The food is great and locally sourced. Each night the fishers would arrive at the dock with their catch of the day and the sharks and sting rays would come to feed on the scraps! I would highly recommend Casa Cayuco and hope to come back someday! Kids review: 'best trip ever'
