The place can sleep many. Great location. 13 minutes to Timberline. Literally staying within the trees. Soothing nature sounds abundant. Sandy river heard from every room with windows open. Tranquility

The approach sets the tone before you even step inside. Trees frame the driveway, the sound of moving water registers somewhere just beneath your attention, and the cabin itself appears with the kind of quiet scale that promises room to breathe. Spacious River Cabin is a generously proportioned retreat managed by Stay Portland, designed to accommodate up to eight guests without anyone feeling like they're sharing too closely. The architecture reads as classic Pacific Northwest cabin, with warm wood tones, pitched ceilings, and windows that pull the surrounding landscape into every room.
Inside, the layout unfolds with an easy logic. Common spaces are open and inviting, built around a living area where the group naturally gravitates. The kitchen is fully equipped for real cooking, not the kind of token setup that discourages anything beyond reheating. Multiple bedrooms are spread across the floor plan, offering enough separation that mornings can start at different paces. Furnishings are comfortable and lived-in without feeling dated, striking a balance between rustic character and modern ease. The overall impression is of a home that was designed for use, not just for photographs.
The hot tub is the property's most defining amenity, positioned to take advantage of the outdoor setting. After a day spent exploring or simply doing very little, sinking into the warm water with the sound of the river nearby becomes the kind of ritual that organizes the evening. The outdoor space around the cabin extends the living area naturally, offering room for gatherings, quiet mornings with coffee, or late afternoons where conversation drifts comfortably between chairs. The river proximity gives the property a soundtrack that shifts with the season and the hour, grounding the experience in something distinctly natural.
What stays with you about this cabin is the way it accommodates a group without losing intimacy. Eight guests can cook together, spread out across bedrooms, soak in the hot tub under open sky, and still find corners for solitude. It is the kind of place where time slows not because anyone is trying to manufacture calm, but because the setting simply allows it. The river moves at its own pace, and after a night or two, you begin to match it.

There's a particular quality to a place that sits right on moving water — the Sandy River doesn't just provide a backdrop here, it sets the tempo of the whole stay. This cabin leans into that rhythm without overcomplicating things: gleaming wood floors, freshly remodeled spaces that feel considered rather than fussy, and windows generous enough to make the surrounding greenery feel like part of the interior. With 150 feet of private river frontage, the connection to the landscape isn't decorative — it's tangible. The hot tub and fire pit feel like earned rituals after days spent on trails or simply doing nothing at all. Mt. Hood looming ten minutes away adds a sense of scale, but the cabin's real pull is how convincingly it slows you down.

Kim was very responsive whenever we had a concern. The house itself was very spacious. It felt quite secluded. It was a 20 minute drive from Mt. Hood making it quite accessible. Overall a great stay.
