Great place to stay with a big group of friends! Loved having such close access to the river. Huge patio area that is partially covered for hanging out and barbecuing. Of note - all the bedrooms are shared except for 1 private room downstairs.

The road narrows, the tree canopy thickens, and somewhere between the last stretch of pavement and the front porch, the noise of everything else falls away. Sandy River Cabin sits where the forest meets the water, a large-format retreat designed not for couples seeking solitude but for groups who want to be together in one place, under one roof, with enough room to breathe.
The cabin sleeps sixteen across nine queen beds, a configuration that speaks to its purpose: family reunions, milestone birthdays, friendships that span decades and time zones. The layout gives each sleeping space its own sense of privacy while the common areas pull everyone back together. Generous living spaces anchor the interior, with enough seating and gathering room that no one ends up perched on an armrest. The kitchen is scaled for real cooking, the kind where multiple people can work side by side without collision. Step outside and the hot tub waits, set among the trees, offering the particular pleasure of warm water and cool air that never gets old no matter how many times you've experienced it. The Sandy River itself is close enough to shape the rhythm of your days, whether that means morning walks along its banks, afternoons spent wading, or simply the ambient sound of moving water threading through every conversation held on the deck.
The property is managed by Stay Portland, a hospitality group specializing in distinctive short-term residences across the greater Portland, Oregon region. The Sandy River corridor has long drawn those looking to step outside the city without committing to a longer journey. The landscape here is defined by Douglas fir, moss-covered rock, and the particular quality of Pacific Northwest light that softens everything it touches. Mount Hood looms in the distance on clear days, and the small towns nearby offer provisions without pretense.
What lingers after a stay at Sandy River Cabin is the memory of proximity. Not just to the river or the forest, but to the people you came with. Sixteen guests sharing meals at one table, trading stories around the hot tub at night, waking to the sound of rain on the roof and coffee already brewing downstairs. The cabin does not try to be precious or overly designed. It simply provides the space, the beds, and the setting, and trusts that the people inside will do the rest.

There's a particular quality to a place where the sound of a river becomes the architecture of your day — not background noise, but the thing that shapes your pace, your breath, your sense of time loosening. This cabin sits on an acre bordered by old growth trees and the Sandy River, and the effect is less "getaway" and more genuine immersion, the kind where you stop performing relaxation and just arrive somewhere quieter in yourself. The remodel brought fresh wood floors and a warmth that feels considered rather than overdone, and nine queen beds mean this works beautifully for a group that wants togetherness without crowding. Mt. Hood is ten minutes away, which is close enough to feel spontaneous but far enough that the property never reads as a base camp — it reads as the destination itself.

Kim’s place was very nice and comfortable. Had clean linens. beds were pretty comfy enough space to hold me and my husband and 8 grown kids and 4 kids and a baby extremely well. plenty of towels available. nice large deck for barbecues big 10 seater table opened up to the kitchen so everyone can stay involved.plus a six seater breakfast table. nice sized kitchen open to the large table with a open concept. Very nice viewing room needs some clearing to see the creek. But was relaxing to sit and read where you can have a little time of your own. Even though we didn’t use them there was a wood stove in the dinning room and another in the living space.
Kim was very nice and was happy to have any feedback that we may have had to make your Stay even better.
Thank you, Kim. hopefully we can rent it again when we’re in that area, thank you for sharing your home.
Mary

Everything was awesome. Kim was responsive and accommodating at every turn. The home was truly and absolutely beautiful, as were the surroundings: an oasis of peace amongst the ever present sands of time.
