I've been staying at several of Kenneth's properties as I travel to Waco for work. They are always clean, quiet and comfortable. Definitely a nice little find that is close enough to enjoy Waco without being in Waco.

There is something quietly thrilling about a structure that refuses to be what it was built for. The Merlot is a container home, purpose-built from repurposed shipping containers and finished with the kind of warmth and intentionality that makes the industrial origin feel almost incidental. Set within easy reach of Waco's most popular attractions, the home arrives as a genuine surprise: a compact, design-forward residence where corrugated steel meets comfortable living, and where the novelty of the concept never overshadows the pleasure of simply being there.
Inside, The Merlot delivers a fully equipped residential experience. The open-concept layout connects a well-appointed kitchen, living area, and dining space in a way that feels both efficient and generous. The kitchen is stocked for real cooking, not just reheating, with modern appliances and enough counter space to prepare a proper meal. Bedrooms are designed for rest rather than spectacle, with comfortable bedding and a sense of enclosure that the container form naturally provides. A full bathroom rounds out the interior, and the overall finish level leans warm and contemporary, with wood tones and clean lines softening the industrial shell. It is the kind of home that photographs well but lives even better.
Outdoor space extends the experience beyond the container walls. Guests will find a patio area suited to morning coffee or evening unwinding, with enough room to settle in and enjoy the surrounding landscape. The setting is residential and quiet, offering a genuine sense of retreat without isolation. Waco's Magnolia Market at the Silos sits roughly twelve minutes away, making this a natural base for exploring the shops, restaurants, and cultural energy that have reshaped the city's identity in recent years. The broader Waco area offers everything from the Cameron Park Zoo to Baylor University's riverfront campus, all within a short drive.
What stays with you about The Merlot is the honesty of it. This is not a home pretending to be something grander than it is. It is a container home that embraces its origins and elevates them through thoughtful design, practical comfort, and a location that puts you close to everything worth seeing. The rhythm here is unhurried and self-directed: cook when you want, explore when the mood strikes, and return to a home that feels distinctly, memorably yours.

There's something quietly compelling about a stay that's built from a shipping container but never feels like a compromise. The Merlot House leans into its unconventional bones—rustic and industrial at once—while the interior warmth keeps it from feeling like a design exercise. It's countryside Texas without pretension, a retreat scaled for intimacy rather than spectacle. The rooftop deck is the detail that lingers: a private, softly lit perch above the pastoral landscape where the sky feels close and unhurried. It suits the kind of traveler who finds romance in smallness, in a well-considered space that doesn't try to be everything but gets the essentials deeply right.

Cozy, and cute place tucked away from the main road. Very clean and super nice for a tiny home. Enjoyed the interior design.

This was our 6th or 7th time staying in these container houses while visiting our Baylor student. Communication is always great. Tiny homes are incredibly clean and well appointed. Already excited for our next visit.

Cool place to stay for a getaway. I left some suggestions to enhance an even better stay for future guests.
