House was beautiful. Such a family friendly house with amazing amentities. Easy access to beach and stores.

The approach alone tells you what kind of stay this will be. A narrow road climbs through olive groves and cypress-lined ridges before arriving at La Fortezza by Stay Awhile Villas, a centuries-old stone fortress perched high above the rolling Tuscan countryside. The architecture carries the weight of its history without pretension. Thick masonry walls, arched doorways, and terra cotta floors ground every room in a sense of permanence, while the interiors have been carefully restored to offer the comforts of a private residence rather than a museum piece. Light pours through tall windows framing views of the surrounding hills, and the scale of the property feels both grand and deeply intimate.
The villa accommodates groups and families with generous living spaces spread across multiple levels. Bedrooms are finished with exposed beams and natural linens, each one slightly different in character but unified by the same warm restraint. Common areas invite lingering: a vaulted living room with a stone fireplace, a long farmhouse dining table suited to evening meals that stretch past midnight, and a well-equipped kitchen where mornings begin slowly with espresso and whatever was picked up at the local market the day before. This is a home built for gathering, for the kind of unstructured days where cooking, reading, and conversation fill the hours without any agenda.
Outdoors, the property unfolds across terraced grounds with a private swimming pool overlooking a panorama of vineyards and distant hill towns. Garden paths wind through lavender, rosemary, and wild herbs, and shaded stone terraces offer places to sit with a glass of wine as the afternoon light softens across the valley. The setting rewards stillness. There is no resort programming here, no concierge desk or spa menu. Instead, the experience is shaped entirely by the rhythms you bring with you and the landscape that surrounds you.
The surrounding Tuscan countryside provides easy access to medieval villages, local trattorias, weekly markets, and wineries that welcome visitors without reservation. Days can be spent exploring by car or simply staying close, letting the fortress itself become the destination. By evening, when the valley below fades into blue shadow and the stone walls hold the warmth of the day, La Fortezza reveals its quiet authority. It is a place that asks nothing of you and, in return, gives you the rarest thing a holiday can offer: time that feels entirely your own.

What strikes you first isn't the scale of this Malibu estate but the way it refuses to compete with its setting. The architecture leans into glass — entire walls of it — so the Pacific isn't framed so much as invited inside, collapsing the distance between you and that rugged coastline. There's a quietness to the place that feels earned, not manufactured: imported Italian stone underfoot, a wine cellar that rewards curiosity, salt air threading through rooms. And then there are the unexpected details — a private recording studio tucked into the grounds, a tennis court — that hint at a property designed for someone who stays long enough to get restless and creative. It's the kind of house that makes you possessive of your solitude.

This place is amazing. The architecture of the home is beautiful with large rustic wood doors. Even has automatic toilets and a tennis court for the kids. We would definitely stay here again.
