Great house very clean no complaints I would love to book again

There is a particular kind of Portland home that feels less like a rental and more like borrowing a friend's place, the kind of friend who has excellent taste and a hot tub. Hot Tub + Huge Yard sits in one of the city's most walkable and culturally vibrant corridors, tucked between the independent shops and restaurants of Alberta Street and the lively stretch of Mississippi Avenue. The house opens with an easy, lived-in warmth, the sort of space where every detail feels intentional without feeling staged.
The real draw here is the outdoor space. The yard is generous by any city standard, offering the kind of room that invites long afternoons, evening gatherings, and unhurried mornings with coffee in the open air. The hot tub anchors it all, a private soak under the trees that turns an ordinary evening into something worth remembering. Inside, the home is comfortable and well-appointed, designed for groups or couples who want space to spread out without sacrificing the feeling of being in a real neighborhood, close to everything Portland does best.
Step outside and you are minutes from two of the city's most beloved streets. Alberta is lined with galleries, cafes, and restaurants that reflect Portland's creative spirit, while Mississippi Avenue offers its own constellation of bars, boutiques, and gathering spots. The surrounding neighborhoods reward wandering on foot or by bike, and the proximity to parks, coffee roasters, and local markets means you can settle into a rhythm that feels authentically Portland without ever needing a plan.
What stays with you after a visit to Hot Tub + Huge Yard is not any single amenity but the ease of the whole experience. The freedom of a big backyard, the pleasure of a hot tub at the end of a long day exploring the city, and the satisfaction of being planted in a neighborhood that feels alive without being overwhelming. It is a home that lets Portland come to you as much as it invites you out into it.

There's a particular kind of warmth that comes from a home where mid-century bones haven't been polished into something generic — where original hardwood floors and rustic doors coexist with updated furnishings in a way that feels genuinely lived-in rather than staged. This Portland rental has that quality. It sits in one of the city's most walkable, bikeable pockets near Alberta and Mississippi, which means the neighborhood's creative energy is right outside, but the expansive yard and hot tub create a sense of remove that feels almost improbable for an urban stay. It's the kind of place that suits someone who wants Portland's independent spirit without retreating to a hotel lobby at the end of the day — somewhere the line between inside and outside softens through big windows and garden air, and where the evening draws you into the backyard rather than back to a screen.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at James's house. It was as described in a very walkable and enjoyable neighborhood. Although we didn't use the kitchen, it was well equipped. The furniture and beds were comfortable. James was a great communicator and always friendly & welcoming.

James is a great host! He has great communication and keeps you updated on everything. If there are issues he is friendly and responsive quickly.
The house itself is a cute house. It is an OLDER house but that doesn't mean it has no charm. It has a lot of personality and the furnishings inside are all new. The beds are GREAT. Very comfortable with nice sheets. Pillows that are great too, not the cheap ones you get in hotels.
The neighborhood is cute and while there are some industrial parts in the surrounding areas there are also neighborhoods right behind the house that are just old and gorgeous. Fun to walk. I walked every day and found very fun seeing all the different houses and places in Portland. While there are not a lot of restaurants near by, a quick walk or drive and there are a plenty!

This home was a great pick for a larger group. It was very clean with extra comfy beds and walking distance or a short drive to many different restaurants and shops. Heads up, the only bathroom is upstairs & there is a unit downstairs so you need to be courteous after 10. The kitchen has everything you need to cook food for a crew! Unfortunately, the hot tub was not working properly and they were not able to send someone to fix it during our stay, but they were kind enough to offer a partial refund. The host was very kind about it. Would definitely return :)

We enjoyed our stay. Walkable to great restaurants and easy to ride the bus to MODA center for a concert.
The house was cold when we arrived, but supplementing the mini-splits with the portable heaters brought it up to a comfortable level.
