Mike was incredibly helpful and the place was great!!

There's a particular quality to a well-kept mid-century apartment that no boutique hotel can quite replicate. The proportions feel honest. The lines are clean but lived-in. The light enters the way it was always meant to. The Mid-Century Apartment on Hawthorne delivers exactly this: a residential retreat rooted in Portland's most walkable and culturally rich corridors, where the rhythm of the neighborhood becomes the rhythm of your stay.
Managed by Stay Portland, the apartment offers a fully furnished space designed for both short getaways and longer stretches. The mid-century aesthetic carries through the interiors with period-appropriate details and a warm, grounded palette that feels intentional without being overly curated. You'll find a full kitchen equipped for real cooking, comfortable living areas that invite lingering, and the kind of thoughtful layout that makes even a few nights feel like settling in. It's the rare vacation rental that asks nothing of you except to make yourself at home.
Step outside and you're on Hawthorne Boulevard, one of Portland's most beloved stretches for independent shopping, dining, and neighborhood wandering. The street is defined by its density of vintage and thrift stores, locally owned restaurants, coffeehouses, and bookshops. This isn't a manufactured district or a tourist corridor. It's a genuine Portland neighborhood where residents and visitors share the same sidewalks, the same cafés, the same unhurried pace. The surrounding blocks extend the experience with tree-lined residential streets, parks, and easy access to other east side neighborhoods that define the city's creative identity.
What stays with you is the simplicity of it. No lobby, no concierge, no choreographed arrival. Just a well-designed apartment on a street worth exploring, in a city that rewards curiosity. The Mid-Century Apartment on Hawthorne is Portland at its most authentic: unpretentious, inviting, and endlessly interesting once you start paying attention.

There's a particular kind of Portland stay that doesn't try to insulate you from the city but rather dissolves the wall between where you sleep and where you wander — this is that kind of place. The mid-century design language feels deliberate without being precious, with European-inflected interiors and high-grade finishes that catch morning light in a way that makes lingering over coffee feel earned. Hawthorne as a neighborhood rewards exactly the kind of traveler who'd choose an apartment over a hotel: someone who wants to stumble into a vintage shop or an artisanal café without a plan, who treats a bike path as a form of cultural immersion. The honest, slightly charming detail that earplugs and a noise machine are provided tells you everything about the relationship between this apartment and its surroundings — it lives inside the neighborhood's energy, not apart from it, and that proximity is the whole point.

Mike's home is in a very good location, if you're going to go out to have a good time you can walk to bars and resturants down the street, there is a grocery store not too far. <br/>My family and I enjoyed our stay.
