Our stay was great! The home was spacious and clean (and stayed cool through the 110 degree days!). The property is incredibly quiet and perfect for a peaceful getaway. Highly recommend!

The road narrows before it reaches you. Past the last stretch of pavement and into the kind of quiet that only the high desert knows how to hold, Black Star Oasis emerges across fifteen private acres of sun-bleached terrain, ancient granite boulders, and wide-open sky. This is not a manicured retreat. It is a residence built into the landscape itself, where the architecture defers to the rock formations that surround it and the horizon line stretches unbroken in every direction.
The property centers around a pool that sits among the boulders like it was always meant to be there, its surface catching the shift from golden afternoon light to the deep indigo of desert twilight. The outdoor spaces are where most of your time will be spent. Expansive patios, fire pit areas, and shaded gathering spots create a series of moments across the grounds, each one oriented toward a different angle of the surrounding terrain. Inside, the residence offers a comfortable, well-appointed layout with space enough for groups to spread out without losing the intimacy that a private home provides. The interiors are clean and warm, designed to complement rather than compete with what lies just outside every window.
The scale of the land is the defining feature here. Fifteen acres means you can walk in one direction for a long time before reaching a boundary, and the boulder fields that punctuate the property give it the feeling of occupying your own private corner of a national park. The proximity to Joshua Tree's desert landscape places you within reach of the region's iconic hiking trails, rock climbing routes, and the singular beauty of the park itself, while the property's seclusion ensures that the world beyond its borders remains entirely optional.
Black Star Oasis is built for the kind of stay where the days lose their structure. Mornings begin slowly by the pool. Afternoons dissolve into long walks among the rocks or quiet hours reading in the shade. Evenings belong to the fire pit and the sky above it, which, this far from city light, delivers the kind of star field that makes you reconsider how you normally spend your nights. It is a place that asks very little of you and offers, in return, the rare luxury of uninterrupted space.

What gets you here is the contrast — fifteen acres of rugged high desert, boulders older than memory, and then this interior that refuses to rough it. Black Star Oasis doesn't fight the landscape; it holds a quiet conversation with it. The design feels considered without being precious, rooms that lean into comfort rather than spectacle. But really, the property earns its keep in the in-between spaces — that front deck where the desert sky does its evening work, the fire pit where conversation slows to match the silence around you. It suits the kind of traveler who wants proximity to Joshua Tree's wildness without surrendering a good kitchen or a proper bed. The scale of the land gives everyone room to breathe, and that's the thing that lingers — not luxury as performance, but space as a kind of generosity.

This home was beautiful, modern, and spacious!
The hot tub was the best part of the stay. Being able to view the stars from there was a dream.
There was only one negative experience which was the doors that led out to the patio area were locked, making us go around each time.
It was not a deal breaker for us! But it definitely would’ve made the stay absolutely perfect!
I would stay here again.
