The location is very nice. Close walking distance to fun places.

There is a particular quality of light that defines the best urban studios, the kind that arrives unhurried through generous windows and settles across clean surfaces with an openness that makes a small space feel generous. Sunny Buckman Studio offers exactly this: a bright, well-considered residence in one of Portland's most characterful inner eastside neighborhoods, where the rhythm of daily life unfolds just beyond the front door.
The studio is designed with clarity and warmth, a space where everything has its place without feeling sparse. The layout balances living, sleeping, and cooking areas within a single open footprint, making the most of natural light and simple, functional furnishings. A well-equipped kitchen allows for easy mornings or light meals in, while the overall atmosphere leans toward the kind of comfortable minimalism that invites you to settle in rather than simply pass through. It is the sort of space that rewards a slower pace, where a book and a cup of coffee feel like the most natural way to begin the day.
Buckman itself is one of Portland's most walkable neighborhoods, a dense grid of cafes, restaurants, bakeries, and independent shops that feels both established and unselfconscious. The promise embedded in the property's name holds true: food and coffee are genuinely within easy walking distance, and the surrounding blocks reward casual exploration on foot. This is a part of Portland where neighborhood life is the attraction, where the line between residential and cultural blurs in the best possible way. You are close to everything without feeling like you are in the middle of everything.
What lingers after a stay at Sunny Buckman Studio is not a single dramatic moment but a cumulative sense of ease. The morning sun warming the room. The short walk to a counter where someone knows exactly how to pull a shot. The feeling of living briefly inside a city rather than visiting it from the outside.

What gets you here isn't the studio itself—though it's genuinely well-considered, flooded with natural light through large windows and designed with a warmth that feels personal rather than staged. It's the fact that Buckman is one of those Portland neighborhoods where the texture of daily life is the attraction. The café culture is real, the vintage shops feel like they belong to someone specific, and the evening energy along these streets has a looseness that's hard to manufacture. This is a stay that works best for the kind of traveler who'd rather absorb a neighborhood than check off landmarks, someone who finds comfort in a space that feels like a local's apartment rather than a curated retreat. The studio gives you just enough—style, comfort, quiet—and then lets the surrounding blocks do the rest.

What a great little studio! It’s well furnished, clean, has a comfy bed, and in an incredible location. Bob and/or his team were very responsive, friendly, and incredibly helpful. <br/>Highly recommend, and would definitely stay here again the next time we visit Portland!!
