There is a particular stillness that belongs to homes built close to water. It settles into the architecture, softens the pace, and shapes the way light moves through a room. FLOHOM 5 | Amanzi is this kind of residence: a contemporary retreat designed around openness, comfort, and a deep connection to its waterside setting. The name itself, drawn from the Zulu word for water, signals what defines the experience here. This is a place where the element is not merely a backdrop but a companion to daily life.
The residence is designed with a modern sensibility that favors clean lines, natural materials, and generous proportions. Living spaces are open and light-filled, with large windows and glass doors that blur the boundary between interior and exterior. The layout encourages movement between indoor comfort and outdoor relaxation, whether that means gathering around a shared table, settling into a quiet corner with a book, or stepping outside to take in the view. Bedrooms are thoughtfully appointed, with quality linens and a sense of calm that carries through every detail. The kitchen is fully equipped for guests who prefer to cook and eat at their own rhythm, making the residence well suited to longer stays and small groups traveling together.
Outdoor spaces are central to the Amanzi experience. The property offers direct access to the water and areas for lounging and unwinding in the open air. Mornings here tend to begin slowly, with coffee carried outside and conversations that drift comfortably with the breeze. Evenings are equally unhurried, the kind spent watching the light change over the water before retreating inside for a home-cooked meal or a glass of wine in the living room.
What stays with you after a stay at Amanzi is not any single detail but a rhythm. It is the way mornings stretch a little longer, the way afternoons lose their urgency, the way the presence of water recalibrates your sense of time. This is a residence that does not perform luxury so much as offer space, quiet, and a rare kind of ease that is difficult to find and harder still to leave behind.

There's something quietly subversive about staying on the water in the middle of a city — the harbor hum just beyond the glass, the gentle motion beneath you recalibrating your sense of time. This houseboat, moored in Baltimore's Inner Harbor, trades the predictability of a hotel lobby for something more intimate and slightly untethered. The design leans into its setting rather than fighting it, with expansive windows that make the water and cityscape feel like part of the interior. It's a place that suits people who want proximity to downtown without being absorbed by it — the kind of stay where cooking in a well-equipped kitchen or eating on the deck feels like the main event, not a compromise. What lingers is the contrast: urban energy held at arm's length by a thin membrane of water.

From the very first step onboard the houseboat, we were in love with it. Such a unique experience. The view sitting on the upper deck was the absolute best. The best air bnb we have ever done. It will be hard to top this one. We will definitely be back. Thank you Brian for your great communication and help with local restaurants. An absolute pleasure. <br/>Dustin
