A great stay for a group of 5 people!
The King Charles announces itself the way the finest Charleston residences always have: quietly, through proportion and patina rather than spectacle. This is a property that belongs to its street, its scale calibrated to the rhythm of historic facades and garden walls that line the surrounding blocks. Step through the entrance and the city's hum softens. What greets you is a space that feels less like a vacation rental and more like a private home that has been kept beautifully intact, its rooms arranged with the kind of care that speaks to genuine stewardship rather than decoration.
Inside, the living spaces are generous without excess. High ceilings and natural light give the rooms an openness that rewards slow mornings, while furnishings balance comfort with a sense of heritage. The kitchen is fully equipped for guests who want to cook with market finds, and the dining area invites long, unhurried meals. Bedrooms are restful and well-considered, dressed in quality linens with a palette that stays warm and grounded. Bathrooms are clean-lined and modern where it matters, with fixtures and finishes that feel deliberate rather than decorative. Throughout, the residence maintains a coherent sense of character, each room connected by the same understated confidence.
Outdoor space is a defining part of the experience. Whether you settle into a quiet corner with a book or gather in the evening with a glass of wine, the property's exterior areas offer a sense of seclusion that feels rare and genuinely private. There is room to breathe here, to step outside and still feel entirely at home. Charleston's best restaurants, galleries, and landmarks are close at hand, and the walkability of the surrounding neighborhood means the city unfolds naturally at your own pace. Morning coffee becomes a ritual tied to the light filtering through old trees. Evenings resolve into the particular stillness that Charleston does better than almost anywhere.
The King Charles is not a property that announces its luxury. It earns it through proportion, through thoughtfulness, through the simple pleasure of a residence that feels both deeply rooted and entirely yours. What lingers after a stay here is not any single detail but the cumulative effect of a home that was never trying to impress, only to welcome.

What stays with you here is the tension between history and ease — a renovated Charleston residence that feels genuinely lived-in rather than staged, where the interiors carry real character without leaning on nostalgia. It's set in the Crosstown neighborhood, which means you're close enough to King Street's energy to walk there in minutes but removed enough to feel like you've found something quieter, more personal. The curation is evident but never fussy, and the scale of the place lends itself to groups or families without losing intimacy. It's the kind of stay that makes Charleston feel less like a destination and more like a place you're briefly, convincingly, from.

Stay Duvet has brought Airbnb to a whole new level! They have anticipated every possible need of their guests. The well appointed spaces are <br/>not just beautiful but functional as well .Their online guest manual gave great suggestions of things to do and recommendations. Charleston is a town that you can navigate without a car and you can save a lot of money by utilizing their free Dash bus system. At Stay Duvet’s suggestion we used bag valet, we were able to drop off our luggage at the airport and they delivered it to us four hours later after we checked in! Since we weren’t getting a car, we also used “groceries away” which not only shopped but stocked our rental as well! We loved our stay in the beautiful and clean apartment!
