Stay Duvet
You arrive to a quiet residential street where the pace drops and the light softens through old trees. The Retreat at Felix is a private residence that sits within easy walking distance of King Street, Charleston's storied corridor of galleries, restaurants, and independent shops. The property carries the unhurried grace of the surrounding neighborhood, offering a self-contained base that feels less like a rental and more like a home you've borrowed from someone with excellent taste.
Inside, the space is thoughtfully appointed with a sense of warmth and simplicity. Clean lines and comfortable furnishings create an atmosphere that invites lingering, whether over morning coffee at the kitchen counter or an evening spent unwinding after a long day exploring the city. The layout accommodates small groups or couples looking for room to breathe, with living areas that feel generous without being cavernous. Natural light fills the interiors, and the overall design strikes a balance between contemporary ease and the classical sensibility that defines so much of Charleston's residential architecture.
The real luxury here is proximity. King Street unfolds just a short walk away, where you can move between acclaimed dining rooms, boutique shopping, and the kind of neighborhood bars that reward curiosity. The historic district's landmarks, waterfront parks, and hidden courtyards are all accessible on foot, which means the car stays parked and the city reveals itself at a slower, more intimate pace. Charleston's culinary scene, among the most celebrated in the American South, becomes your nightly dining room.
What stays with you after a few days at The Retreat at Felix is the rhythm it encourages. There is no lobby, no concierge desk, no schedule to follow. Instead, there is the simple pleasure of a well-kept private home in one of America's most beautiful cities, where the only itinerary is the one you write yourself, and the best moments tend to happen on the walk back.

There's a quietness to this house that feels earned rather than staged — the tall windows pulling in natural light, the rooms designed with just enough restraint that you notice the details without being overwhelmed by them. It reads like someone with real taste furnished a home they actually wanted to live in, not a rental they wanted to impress with. The rooftop is the thing that lingers, though — a private open-air space with views across the Charleston skyline that makes the whole property feel less like a vacation house and more like a secret you're keeping from everyone else on King Street, which happens to be just steps away. It suits the kind of trip where the group is small, the occasion matters, and you want a base that feels genuinely yours.

This stay was absolutely wonderful! The home was so close to king street and everywhere we wanted to go to. The home itself had the classic downtown Charleston feel and was very comfortable. The team was super responsive to any questions or concerns I had and I definitely would recommend staying here or booking through this company.
