Great location, beautiful place would definitely stay again.

The door opens and the Pacific is right there. Malibu Sand Suite #16 is a beachside studio that distills coastal living to its most essential form: one beautifully appointed room, the sound of waves, and nothing unnecessary standing between you and the shoreline. This is not a grand resort or a sprawling compound. It is a single, carefully considered space designed for the kind of stay where proximity to the ocean is the entire point.
The studio is configured for simplicity and comfort, with everything arranged to make the most of its beachside position. You settle in quickly here. The layout is compact and purposeful, the kind of space that encourages you to spend your hours outside rather than within four walls. Mornings begin with the particular quality of light that only exists along this stretch of coast, where the sun rises over the mountains behind you and the water catches it slowly. The rhythm of the day follows the tide rather than a schedule. You walk out onto the sand, return when you feel like it, and let the afternoon unfold without agenda.
Malibu itself needs little introduction, but the experience of staying directly on the beach, rather than above it or adjacent to it, changes the relationship entirely. The coastline here is famously long and varied, with point breaks and coves stretching in both directions. The Pacific Coast Highway connects you to the broader landscape of the area, from roadside dining spots to the trails and canyons that define Malibu's wilder interior. But the particular pleasure of this studio is that leaving feels optional. The beach is not a destination you drive to. It is where you already are.
What stays with you after Malibu Sand Suite #16 is the rare simplicity of it. A studio, a stretch of sand, and the kind of unhurried proximity to the water that most coastal stays only approximate. There is nothing between you and the Pacific but a few steps, and that closeness shapes everything, from the way you sleep to the way you breathe.

What gets you here isn't the idea of a beach rental — it's the particular intimacy of this one. A small studio on Carbon Beach, part of a very limited handful of units, where the ocean isn't a backdrop but practically a roommate. The interiors lean into that closeness rather than competing with it: bespoke furnishings, artisanal details, and a palette that borrows from the water outside those expansive windows. It's not trying to be a boutique hotel or a design statement — it's trying to dissolve the line between where you're staying and the stretch of sand just beyond your balcony. That proximity is the whole point, and it shapes everything, from the salt air that finds its way in to the soundtrack of waves that never quite stops. It stays with you longer than you'd expect.

You can't beat the location with a partial ocean view, the sounds of the crashing waves if you open the door, and walking 2 minutes to go to Nobu or Soho Beach House (each arguably the best examples of their respective brands). The unit is a studio but efficiently designed and very clean. Little things like a Toto toilet and extremely comfortable bed make it all the better.
