Awesome stay. We have some very picky folks in our family but we all loved it. Exactly what we were looking for and I wouldn’t have changed a thing!

The land announces itself before the house does. Five acres of sun-scorched terrain, scattered with massive boulders that look as though they were placed by some deliberate, geological hand. Casa Milla by Fieldtrip sits within this landscape rather than on top of it, a private residence designed to feel both sheltered and wholly exposed to the raw beauty of its surroundings. The approach is unhurried. Stone and sky dominate the sightlines, and the architecture responds in kind, low-slung and warm-toned, opening toward the horizon rather than turning inward.
The property operates as a full-home vacation rental, part of the Fieldtrip portfolio of design-forward stays that prioritize character and setting over formula. Inside, the interiors are deliberately pared back, letting the views through oversized windows carry the atmosphere. Natural materials and clean lines create rooms that feel calm without austerity. The living spaces are generous and open, designed for gathering and for quiet in equal measure. Bedrooms frame the boulder-studded landscape like portraits, and the kitchen is built for real use, inviting long, slow meals prepared at your own pace. Every room maintains a dialogue with the outdoors, blurring the boundary between the built environment and the ancient terrain just beyond the glass.
Outside, the five acres are yours entirely. The scale of the property means privacy is effortless. Mornings might begin with coffee on the patio as the early light shifts across the rock formations, warming the stone from gray to gold. The outdoor spaces are arranged for lingering, with seating areas positioned to take advantage of the changing light throughout the day. As evening arrives, the sky opens into something vast and uninterrupted, the kind of darkness that reminds you how bright the stars actually are.
Casa Milla is not a property that performs luxury through accumulation. Its value is in what it offers and what it leaves out. There are no itineraries here, no concierge-curated agendas. The rhythm is your own, shaped by the sun's arc and the particular stillness that settles over wide-open land. You cook when you're hungry. You walk the grounds when restlessness finds you. You sit with the boulders and the silence, and you understand why someone chose to build here. The feeling that lingers is one of proportion, a house scaled to its landscape, a stay scaled to something slower and more deliberate than the life you left behind.

It's the desert doing most of the work here, but the design knows exactly when to step aside and when to intervene. Five private acres at the edge of Joshua Tree's boulder fields, where every window has been composed rather than placed, and the interiors — raw textures, earthen tones, layered linens — feel less like decoration and more like agreement with the landscape. You notice small things: the grain of wood, the heft of a ceramic mug, the way afternoon light turns a far ridge to copper. The main terrace faces the boulders directly, and evenings there shift from coral to indigo with a quiet theatricality that never feels staged. This is a place for people who don't need to be entertained — who understand that five acres of open sky and clean desert silence is more than enough.

Casa Milla was the perfect spot for a quiet, beautiful getaway for my husband's birthday. Not only was the scenery gorgeous, but the house was impeccably designed and curated. Kitchen was fully stocked, hot tub luxurious, and so many options for activities!<br/>Check-in was a cinch and Jonathan from Fieldtrip made sure we had everything we needed. Highly recommend!!

Fantastic experience at this home and the fieldtrip hosts! Host was amazingly responsive, worked with Jonathan and he was a dream to communicate with, friendly, immensely responsive, and more. Property is more beautiful than the photos! It has a lot more to offer than just the photos too (The amenities went above our expectations, the house was beautifully designed inside and out, landscape was beautifully lit at night, they provided fire wood which was a generous surprise, quality towels, more than ample seating inside and out, and more). In my view it’s perfect for a kid, or adults, or in our case even mostly seniors. All ages have something to enjoy from staying here. Will definitely stay at this home or another Fieldtrip home in a heart beat! 5+ stars!

What a fantastic residence to stay in! Great location for getting around Joshua Tree. Was able to enjoy the perks of the desert, such as seeing road runners in the backyard, but also close enough to the small town to easily grab coffee (Joshua Tree Coffee Company has great coffee!) Also, managers responded immediately to our texts. We would definitely stay again if we have the opportunity!
