Great jumping off point to explore Malibu. Walkable to some attractions, though we also drove to some hikes/destinations that were further afield.<br/>Beautiful place. Extremely responsive host! Would stay here again

There is a stretch of Malibu coastline so coveted it earned the name Billionaire's Beach. Carbon Beach sits just east of the pier, a narrow ribbon of sand backed by some of the most sought-after residential addresses in Southern California. Malibu Sand Suite #15 is one of them. This ocean-side residence places you not near the water but directly against it, where the Pacific is less a backdrop than a constant, immersive presence filling every window, every room, every waking moment.
The suite is a fully appointed private residence designed for guests who want more than a hotel room on the coast. Interiors are clean-lined and contemporary, furnished to feel like a considered home rather than a staged rental. Large windows frame unobstructed ocean views, and the layout opens naturally toward the water, blurring the threshold between indoor living and the beach just outside your door. The kitchen is equipped for real cooking, and living spaces are generous enough to settle into for days at a time. Bedding and linens feel deliberate, the kind of details that signal someone has thought carefully about comfort without overdesigning the experience. This is a residence that trusts its setting to do much of the work.
Carbon Beach itself is one of Malibu's most intimate stretches of sand, quieter and more private than the broader public beaches to the west. Morning walks here feel unhurried, and evenings bring the particular stillness that comes when the sun drops behind the Pacific horizon with no buildings, no boardwalks, and no crowds between you and the water. The broader Malibu coastline offers access to iconic dining along Pacific Coast Highway, surf breaks, hiking in the Santa Monica Mountains, and the easygoing culture that has defined this stretch of the California coast for decades. Yet the real draw of staying on Carbon Beach is how little reason you have to leave.
Malibu Sand Suite #15, offered through Stay Awhile, delivers something that even the finest coastal hotels rarely can: the feeling of living on the ocean rather than visiting it. Days here take on a rhythm dictated entirely by the tide and the light. You wake to the sound of waves breaking just beyond the glass. You cook when you feel like it, walk outside barefoot onto sand that belongs to no resort or club, and return to a space that feels genuinely yours. It is the kind of stay that recalibrates your sense of what proximity to the ocean can actually mean.

There's something about a property with only six suites on a stretch of sand this storied—Carbon Beach carries its 'Billionaire's Beach' nickname with quiet conviction, and this place leans into that intimacy rather than fighting it. The interiors borrow their palette from the beach itself, all natural materials and muted tones, and the floor-to-ceiling windows don't just frame the Pacific, they dissolve the boundary between suite and shoreline. It's the kind of place where the salt air finds its way inside and you stop noticing the line between indoors and out. What stays with you isn't the luxury but the proximity—sand literally steps from your door, waves audible through the night, dolphins close enough to kayak alongside if timing allows. It suits the traveler who wants Malibu without performance, where the ocean does all the work.

This was such a joyous retreat. By far, the most immaculate, pristine Airbnb we’ve stayed at yet. Excellent location with easy public beach access. The property was a very luxurious and spacious space. Our family truly enjoyed our stay here.

I've stayed a couple of "Stay Awhile's" properties. The older I get, the more I really appreciate dealing with professionals. SA is definitely a pro. I really appreciate the customer service, the maintenance staff and the overall presentation of their properties. We will be back
