The kitchen and the living room are huge, we love this place.

The approach alone sets the tone. Monserate sits high in Southern California's wine country, a modern estate framed by rolling hills and panoramic views that extend across the valley in every direction. The architecture is clean and contemporary, with expansive glass, open sightlines, and a layout designed to dissolve the boundary between interior comfort and the landscape beyond. This is not a hotel or a resort. It is a private residence built for gathering, for slowness, and for the kind of days that organize themselves around light, wine, and water.
The centerpiece is unmistakable: an infinity pool that appears to spill directly into the surrounding hillside, its edge aligned with the distant ridgeline so that the view from the water feels almost aerial. The pool deck is generous, designed for long afternoons with lounge seating, open sky, and the kind of quiet that only elevation and acreage can provide. Inside, the home is spacious and thoughtfully appointed, with living areas that open fully to the outdoors, a well-equipped kitchen for those who want to cook with local ingredients, and bedrooms that frame the same sweeping views you'll find from nearly every corner of the property. The interiors favor a restrained modern palette, letting natural materials and the surrounding terrain do the atmospheric work.
Monserate is managed by Field Trip, a hospitality company specializing in design-forward vacation homes, and the experience reflects that sensibility. The property is stocked and maintained with the details that distinguish a curated stay from a simple rental: quality linens, a considered kitchen, reliable connectivity, and the kind of seamless check-in that lets you settle in without ceremony. The surrounding area places you within reach of tasting rooms, vineyards, and the agricultural rhythm of the region, offering easy day trips without the pressure of an itinerary. The landscape here is defined by sun-warmed hills, groves, and the unhurried pace of a working wine region that has not yet been overrun by spectacle.
What stays with you is the perspective. The way the pool catches the late afternoon sky. The way morning light fills the living spaces before anyone stirs. Monserate is a house built to hold the view, and everything else, the wine, the warmth, the stillness, arranges itself around that single, defining gesture.

What gets you here is the quiet drama of the setting — a hilltop perch in Fallbrook where the views roll out across vineyard-covered hills and distant mountains with an almost theatrical generosity. The architecture leans into that, with floor-to-ceiling glass that makes the landscape feel less like a backdrop and more like a roommate. The design is modern but warm, grounded in natural tones that don't compete with what's outside. It's a five-bedroom house that feels scaled for gathering — long meals, unhurried conversation — yet never loses its sense of intimacy. The infinity pool edging into the valley below gives the whole property a kind of weightlessness. And the positioning is genuinely clever: you're between the coast and Temecula wine country, close enough to both without belonging to either. It's the kind of place that rewards staying put as much as venturing out, where the fire pit after dark feels like the real destination.

Beautiful home. Very peaceful and quiet. The views are spectacular. Great patio. Excellent barbecue grill. No complaints. Our group loved the home and we enjoyed our stay.

This place was a great find! Just like the photos but even more spacious. The view was awesome and we spent a lot of time at the pool and hot tub. The host was responsive and helpful with the one small issue we had (broken water filter) - even delivered bottled water and ice without us asking. The location worked well for our group who had multiple wedding events in the Temecula area. For all the amenities it’s got really good value for that kind of trip. Also the winery nearby (Monserate) was a highlight. Would definitely return.
