The house was exactly as advertised. Clean, comfortable and convenient. We walked all over the city from the Airbnb and felt right at home. Would highly recommend and will be back!

There is a particular kind of quiet that belongs to homes built with intention in wild places. The Black Pine is a residence shaped by its surroundings, where dark wood exteriors and clean, contemporary interiors create a dwelling that feels both rooted and deliberately modern. The architecture leans into contrast: deep, moody tones against wide windows that pull the landscape inside, raw natural materials set against carefully considered furnishings. From the moment you arrive, the property reads as a place designed not to compete with its setting but to frame it.
Inside, the living spaces are open and grounded. Exposed timber, vaulted ceilings, and a restrained palette of blacks, grays, and warm neutrals give the home a cohesive, gallery-like calm. The kitchen is fully equipped and designed for gathering, with generous counter space and modern appliances that invite long, unhurried meals prepared at your own pace. Bedrooms are thoughtfully appointed, each offering a sense of enclosure and rest, with quality linens and an absence of clutter that lets the architecture do the work. Large windows and natural light anchor every room to the outdoors, while the fireplace becomes a natural center of gravity once evening settles in.
The Black Pine rewards a slower rhythm. Days here are shaped by the land itself, by morning light shifting across the floor, by the decision to read another chapter before stepping outside. The outdoor spaces extend the living area into the open air, offering room to sit, breathe, and simply be present in the landscape. Whether the season brings snow-covered stillness or the bright clarity of warmer months, the property adapts without losing its essential character.
What lingers after a stay at The Black Pine is not any single feature but the overall composure of the place. It is a residence that understands the value of restraint, where every material and every sightline has been chosen to support a feeling of being quietly, completely away. The world outside continues at its usual pace. Here, you set your own.

The Black Pine feels less like a rental and more like stepping into someone's deeply personal world — a place where Spanish tile meets rare artwork and eclectic curiosities in a way that's clearly intentional but never precious. It's a Richmond townhouse with real design conviction, the kind of space where every object seems chosen not for staging but for meaning. The neighborhood hums with the energy of VCU nearby, yet the rear courtyard offers a quiet counterpoint, intimate enough to make an evening meal feel like an occasion. What lingers is the sense that this place wasn't designed to impress you — it was designed to make you feel something about where you are.

Angie was a great host! Very responsive and worked with us to accommodate our needs. The house is beautiful and very well maintained, gorgeous antique fixtures with modern updates that blends with the historic structure. The decor elevates the space without feeling overwhelming, and it's clear how much thought and effort went into the design. It's not a huge house but still feels spacious, and the private patio is a huge bonus.

Overall, I love this venue, it was extremely beautiful and felt so luxurious to stay in.
As per the description, the neighbors can be a little rowdy at times, but it did not extend into the late night.
I think this is a great little spot if you’re looking to explore the city and want an unforgettable venue to stay in.

My friends and I spent a long weekend in Richmond, and staying at The Black Pine was by far my favorite part of the trip! We ended up spending more time at the Airbnb than originally planned because of how welcoming, cozy and unique it is. We breakfasted in the small, floral backyard and read our tea leaves in the main sitting room. The vibes were unmatched.
The house is beautifully decorated and so well cared for. All of the amenities worked great, and we felt very comfortable the entire time.
The neighborhood is also really cute! There’s a beautiful historic cemetery within walking distance and plenty of sweet doggos to pet along the way.
I will definitely be making another trip to Richmond in the future just so I can stay at this beautiful home once again!
