We enjoyed our time and the home was super nice, comfortable and clean!

The approach tells you everything. You arrive at House of Trails and the landscape opens without apology, a sweep of natural terrain stretching toward the horizon with nothing between you and the view but clean air and silence. This is a residence built at the threshold of wilderness, positioned where developed land gives way to open trails and untouched terrain. The architecture doesn't compete with its surroundings. Instead, it frames them, turning every window into a living composition of sky, ridge, and treeline.
Inside, the home is designed for both gathering and solitude. Living spaces are open and light-filled, oriented to maximize the panoramic views that define the property. The kitchen is fully equipped for long, unhurried meals prepared at your own pace, with countertops and layouts that invite real cooking rather than token gestures toward domesticity. Bedrooms are positioned for privacy and rest, each benefiting from the property's elevation and exposure to natural light. The furnishings are comfortable and considered, striking a tone that feels residential rather than staged. You settle in quickly here. There is no lobby, no check-in ritual, no intermediary between you and the landscape. The house is yours entirely.
What sets this property apart is its immediate relationship with the outdoors. Trails begin practically at the doorstep, offering direct access to hiking and exploration without the need to drive to a trailhead or navigate a parking lot. The surrounding terrain rewards those who want to move through it on foot, whether that means a morning walk before coffee or a longer afternoon expedition into the backcountry. Back at the house, outdoor spaces provide a place to decompress with the views still in full frame. The setting is one of those rare arrangements where nature feels neither distant nor threatening, just present and generous.
House of Trails is not a resort and makes no attempt to behave like one. It is a private residence for travelers who want proximity to wildness without sacrificing comfort, a place where the day's rhythm is shaped by light, weather, and the pull of the trail rather than a programmed itinerary. You leave with sore legs, a cleared mind, and the particular satisfaction that comes from having stayed somewhere that trusted its location to do most of the talking.

There's a particular kind of quiet that belongs to the far West Texas desert—not empty, but full of something you forgot you needed. House of Trails sits on the slopes of 'A' Mountain outside Alpine, reached by a private road that immediately resets your sense of pace. The architecture doesn't compete with the landscape; stone and wood and oversized windows let the desert do the talking, and the open living space keeps those mountain views close whether you're cooking or curled up by the fireplace. It's the kind of place that suits people who want solitude with texture—hikers, photographers, or anyone content to just sit on the deck and watch the light shift. Downtown Alpine is minutes away for a good meal or a gallery wander, but the real pull is coming back, settling into the hot tub under a sky so dark and wide it feels almost confrontational. This isn't a polished resort experience; it's a house that earns its name, grounded in trails and silence and the kind of stillness that rewires you.

Everything was amazing! We will be back! This home is by far one of our most favorite places to stay in Alpine and we have tried several. These guys rock at making sure your needs are met and your stay is awesome! The home is clean, cozy, and spacious. The views are stunning too, we even had several deer come and visit. Thank you all for a wonderful and worry free trip.
