Kid's Conductor Package

A cherry-red caboose sits at the edge of the water, permanently stationed between the quiet pull of the river and the easy walk to downtown. Train Caboose & River Views is not a hotel, not a cabin, not quite anything you've stayed in before. It is exactly what it sounds like: a restored railroad caboose reimagined as a one-of-a-kind overnight escape, perched with views of the river and close enough to town that you can leave the car behind. The effect is immediately disarming. You step inside and the proportions surprise you, compact but considered, with the kind of character that only comes from something built for a purpose entirely different from the one it now serves.
The space is designed for two, intimate by nature and deliberate in its simplicity. The caboose retains its original steel bones and railroad identity while offering the comforts a guest actually needs: a bed, thoughtful touches, and windows that frame the river from nearly every angle. This is a stay built around the view and the novelty of the structure itself. You are sleeping in a piece of transportation history, one that no longer moves but still manages to take you somewhere unexpected. The listing is part of the All Belong collection, a curated group of distinctive vacation rentals that prize personality and sense of place over square footage.
Location is one of the property's strongest cards. Situated less than half a mile from downtown, you're within walking distance of local restaurants, shops, and the rhythm of a small town that rewards wandering. The river is your immediate neighbor, visible and present, lending a natural soundtrack and a sense of calm that starts the moment you arrive. It's the kind of proximity to both nature and civilization that makes a short stay feel surprisingly full.
What lingers after a night in the caboose is the scale of the experience, small enough to feel personal, unusual enough to stay in your memory long after checkout. There is no lobby, no concierge, no room service. There is a river, a railroad relic with real warmth, and the rare pleasure of sleeping somewhere that could not possibly be mistaken for anywhere else.

There's something disarming about a stay that's built around a single, restored train caboose on a riverbank—it shouldn't feel this considered, but it does. The gleaming wood paneling and intimate proportions give you the sense of inhabiting a small, warm story, one where vintage charm and quiet modern touches coexist without competing. It's a place that rewards stillness: the river moving past your private deck, hammock chairs swaying in the breeze, the distant hum of a train threading through birdsong like a wink from another era. What stays with you isn't any single detail but the overall calibration—the sense that someone understood exactly how much to include and where to stop, leaving room for the landscape and your own thoughts to fill the rest.

Very cool place very comfy bed and pillows very hot shower. Grateful for the well stocked coffee station. So many cute spots to hang out like the bench swing, fire pit etc. The door in the bathroom that exits to the “balcony” was soooo cool! Oh and thanks for the snack at arrival we were starving!
The view!!!! We enjoyed the morning working on our computers with that view of the river!
The factory!!!! oh my god what a cool thing to see absolutely amazing experience my 8yr old son was so intrigued. We could watch them work for hours.
We also had a competition of who spotted more trains going by.
Ohhhhh and I spotted a deer family of 4 on the left side of the fire pit behind the big dumpster bin, they were so close to us!!

We had a fantastic stay at James Station! The view was unbeatable and the train was so fun for pictures! We had a really wonderful disconnect from tech sitting outside each night on the swinging bench and just talking for hours under the stars - all from still within the city! There were so many places to thrift, eat, and see nearby - we even squished in a daytrip to go horseback riding! Would highly recommend and would definitly stay again!

Had a lovely stay at James Station. The place is very accurately described and thoughtfully appointed. The neighborhood is walkable and all the shops and locals are so incredibly friendly and welcoming. Fire pit was great! WiFi was fast enough to stream and shower pressure was good.. The noise and light from the factory at night are not any worse than sleeping in an urban hotel would be. The blackout curtains are great. If you’re really sound sensitive, consider bringing earplugs but honestly it was fine. I would absolutely stay here again or at another property from these hosts!

Our stay at James Station was great! For a small venue, the host thought of adding every little amenity. Although we didn't bring a child as we're in our 60s & 70s, if you bring a little one to experience the caboose, I'm sure it would be magical!

The caboose was everything that we were hoping for, plus some. during our stay we made memories that will last forever. Amy was very helpful with every question I had. I would recommend here a thousand times over.
