The glass facade catches the light off Boston Harbor before you even step inside. InterContinental Boston rises at the intersection of the city's historic waterfront and the contemporary energy of the Seaport, its twin residential-style towers anchored to the edge of Fort Point Channel. The architecture is unapologetically modern, all clean lines and floor-to-ceiling windows that frame views stretching from the harbor to the downtown skyline. Arrival feels immediate and polished, the lobby opening into a sense of scale that borrows from the water just beyond the doors.
Guest rooms and suites carry the same waterfront orientation, with expansive windows and neutral palettes designed to keep your attention on the view. Many rooms look directly onto the harbor or the city, and the higher floors reward with sweeping panoramas that shift between sailboats, skyline, and open water depending on which direction you face. The 424 rooms range from well-appointed king configurations to sprawling suites, each furnished with a restrained contemporary sensibility. Marble bathrooms, deep soaking tubs, and considered details throughout reinforce the sense that this is a property built to hold your attention rather than compete for it.
Dining on property moves between two distinct registers. Miel Brasserie offers a French-inspired menu rooted in New England ingredients, its atmosphere warmer and more intimate than the scale of the building might suggest. For something more casual and spirit-forward, the RumBa lounge leans into an extensive rum collection and cocktail program, with seating that spills toward harbor views. The outdoor terrace, weather permitting, becomes one of the more compelling places to drink in the city, the water close enough to feel like part of the experience. A spa and fitness center round out the on-property amenities, offering treatments and workout space that match the overall standard without overwhelming the property's identity as a waterfront base for exploring Boston.
Location here is more than convenient. The Rose Kennedy Greenway unfolds just steps from the front entrance, connecting you to the North End, Faneuil Hall, and the New England Aquarium within minutes on foot. The Seaport District spreads to the south, and the Financial District sits at your back. Boston's most historic neighborhoods, from Beacon Hill to the Back Bay, are reachable without ever needing a car. The property sits at a rare convergence point where the city's colonial past and its evolving contemporary culture meet the working waterfront.
What stays with you is the proximity to the water. Not as a backdrop or a marketing conceit, but as a constant presence. Morning light reflecting off the harbor into your room. The quiet rhythm of boats passing Fort Point Channel at dusk. InterContinental Boston is a hotel that lets the city's most underappreciated asset, its relationship with the sea, become the defining texture of your stay.

What we love about this stay
There's a particular quality to a hotel that sits right where a city meets its waterfront — not perched above it, but woven into the seam. The InterContinental Boston occupies that threshold, where harbor energy and urban rhythm coexist without competing. The rooms lean into earth tones and floor-to-ceiling glass, a design restraint that lets the water and skyline do the talking rather than fighting them for attention. What lingers is the dining program's unexpected personality: a sushi-tequila pairing at one venue, organic rums at another, Provençal mornings at Miel — choices that feel curated by someone with actual opinions rather than market research. It's a property that suits travelers who want Boston's history and waterfront within arm's reach but prefer returning to something polished and quietly self-assured at the end of the day.

I was very pleased by this hotel and can recommend it confidently. My room was absolutely silent, restful, and clean. The bed was the perfect firmness; I slept deeply. Importantly, I was able to set the room temperature exactly as I liked it. My IHG Diamond and InterContinental Ambassador statuses were recognized immediately upon check in. All my interactions with staff were positive and pleasant due to consistent professionalism and competence, which is why I choose IC so often. In light of its very high standards and fantastic location in Boston, you can’t go wrong with the IC Boston.

We recently spent two lovely nights at the Intercontinental Boston on Atlantic Ave. where we had a spacious room with luxury bedding and very comfy pillows and lovely soaps and lotions. We had breakfast at the buffet one morning and it was varied and delicious. There was an omelette station and you could order several options like eggs benedict as part of the buffet. We did not eat at the hotel restaurant but did have drinks two nights at the bar called Fellini's (?) where we ordered appetizers for our table and they were delicious. We were served by Mohammed both nights. The first night there was a small mistake in one of our drink orders and Mohammed took care of it immediately which was much appreciated. He was very professional but with a quick sense of humor as well. We found all staff to be friendly and welcoming. The location of the Intercontinental is great as a tourist or for business (easy access to the financial district as well as the Seaport district. We have stayed at other Intercontinental hotels around the U.S. and found our Boston stay ranked right up with NYC or Chicago for luxury and exceptional service.

Great location. We were able to walk everywhere. 5-minute walk to South Station where you can catch Amtrak. Close to Aquarium, Faneuil Hall, Quincy Market, and the North End. Hotel gym is fantastic. Yes, prices are a little high but it is in the middle of the city and well worth it.

Large rooms with spacious bathrooms with both a shower and tub. Nightly turn down service is always a plus and the breakfasts were tasty and filling.

Staff were very professional in all my interactions. I was there on business while suffering a severe cold, so I needed a lot of help with tasks from setting up print jobs to getting a hot lemon honey drink at 2 AM so I could sleep. Everything I asked for got taken care of very quickly and very courteously.
