A row of Victorian townhouses on a tree-lined cul-de-sac just off Sloane Street gives little away from the pavement. Step through the door and the restraint dissolves. The Knightsbridge Hotel is one of Kit Kemp's most personal London properties, a 44-room jewel box where every surface, textile, and piece of art has been chosen with the designer's unmistakable eye for colour, pattern, and wit. The lobby draws you in with bold fabrics set against pale walls, original works by British artists hung alongside hand-embroidered headboards and one-of-a-kind furnishings that feel collected rather than curated. It is a small hotel that lives large, each room its own composition of saturated hues, layered prints, and statement pieces that somehow cohere into something deeply inviting.
Rooms and suites range from cosy doubles to a grand suite, all designed individually so that no two feel the same. Expect handmade beds dressed in fine Egyptian linens, granite and oak bathrooms stocked with Firmdale's signature products, and the kind of thoughtful detail that rewards a second look: an antique lamp here, a contemporary sculpture there, a window seat tucked beneath shutters overlooking the quiet street. Technology is handled deftly, with entertainment systems, complimentary Wi-Fi, and individual climate control woven into the design rather than competing with it. The Drawing Room, with its library of books and honour bar, serves as the hotel's social heart, a place for afternoon tea, evening cocktails, or a few undisturbed hours with a novel. A private screening room downstairs hosts weekly film nights and can be reserved for private events.
The hotel's location places you at the intersection of several of London's most storied neighbourhoods. Hyde Park is a short walk north, Harrods barely two minutes east, and the galleries, antique shops, and garden squares of Chelsea stretch south along Sloane Street. The Victoria and Albert Museum, the Natural History Museum, and the Royal Albert Hall sit within easy reach, making this a base that connects effortlessly to the cultural spine of the city without ever feeling like a tourist outpost. The cul-de-sac address lends a sense of residential privacy that larger hotels on busier roads simply cannot replicate.
What lingers about the Knightsbridge Hotel is the feeling that you have been invited into someone's extraordinarily well-decorated home rather than checked into a hotel. The scale is intimate enough to know the staff by name after a single stay, the design bold enough to shift your mood the moment you walk in. It is a place where London's energy is always just outside the door, and where returning to your room at the end of the day feels less like retreat and more like reunion.

What we love about this stay
What strikes you first is the scale — or rather, the deliberate lack of it. With just 44 rooms, each decorated individually, the Knightsbridge Hotel feels less like a hotel and more like someone's exceptionally well-kept London house, one where every room has its own personality rather than conforming to a single aesthetic template. That's the Firmdale signature, of course, but here it's sharpened by the neighbourhood itself — the proximity to Harrods, the nearness of Hyde Park — which means the world outside is almost excessively stimulating, making the intimacy inside feel earned rather than staged. It's the kind of place where the city's energy is close enough to feel, but the rooms hold it at just the right distance.

This property is one of my favorite hotels in London. The decor by famous interior designer kit kemp, the staff and the bedding were amount my favorite things. The bedding is a nice too. I particularly liked the handwritten note upon arrival in my room. It was a really nice touch by the property manager, Rachel.
