What we love about this stay
Request a lakeside room on the upper floor — the private balcony at golden hour, when the light turns Lake Montauk into hammered copper, is the single best moment here. For dinner, skip the obvious choice and start at Il Forno; the Italian kitchen is quietly outstanding and far less of a scene than Showfish on weekends. Save Showfish for a Tuesday when you can actually linger over the catch. Afternoons belong at the farthest pool from the lobby — it's the one locals who know the club gravitate toward. Book the spa early in your stay, not as an afterthought; morning slots go fast in summer. Star Island's whole mood is unhurried maritime ease, and the property rewards you most when you stop planning and just let the water set the pace.

Lovely hotel a short drive from Montauk. Front desk were friendly. We took the 45 min free boat ride with Captain Jack and he was excellent- very informative and personable. Highlight of the stay. The restaurant was excellent as well. The angry lobster was one of the best dishes! Very clean and well appointed rooms. Great view of the water. Only advice would be to have someone servicing the beach area for towels and more space around the adult pool. Lady in the gift shop was not friendly and very rude but the store was well curated. Luggage bellman was very friendly as well

This is a wonderful place to stay. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, and well-appointed, with luxury toiletries. The location, on the water, is also beautiful. The restaurant was also very good.Finally, the staff was uniformly welcoming and professional.

We are a family of four, and this hotel was absolutely perfect for us. It’s very family-friendly, and the staff went above and beyond with exceptional service throughout our stay. The Ocean Club restaurant had plenty of options, even for our picky eaters, which made mealtimes stress-free. The pools and beach areas were well maintained, with great service all around. We had such a wonderful experience and will definitely be back!
