Two blocks from the ocean, on a quiet stretch of one of California's most celebrated coastal cities, Oceana Santa Monica occupies a rare position. It is not a beachfront spectacle or a lobby-driven scene. It is something closer to a private residence, an all-suite hotel where every accommodation opens onto its own space, where the scale remains intimate, and where the Pacific makes its presence known not through drama but through light, salt air, and an unhurried rhythm that settles in almost immediately upon arrival.
The property's 70 suites are individually designed, each offering a full living area, a private balcony or courtyard, and a kitchen. The interiors feel collected rather than curated, layered with custom furnishings, original artwork, and a palette drawn from the ocean and the garden that surrounds the building. One-bedroom and two-bedroom configurations give the accommodations a residential generosity uncommon in hotels of this size. The courtyard pool sits at the center of the property, framed by lush landscaping and chaise lounges, a gathering point that feels less like a hotel amenity and more like the backyard of a very well-appointed home. Complimentary cruiser bicycles encourage exploration along the nearby beachfront path, and the hotel's wellness offerings include in-room spa treatments that maintain the property's commitment to privacy and comfort.
Dining at Oceana centers on its on-site restaurant, where coastal California cuisine reflects the proximity to Santa Monica's renowned farmers markets. The menu leans into seasonal, locally sourced ingredients with a kitchen that takes its setting seriously. Poolside dining and in-suite options extend the experience throughout the day, reinforcing the sense that you never need to leave unless you choose to. And yet, the surrounding neighborhood rewards those who do. The Third Street Promenade, Santa Monica Pier, and some of the city's most celebrated restaurants sit within easy reach. The hotel's concierge can arrange everything from surfing lessons to private shopping experiences, but the location itself does much of the work, placing you at the intersection of ocean, city, and the particular creative energy that has always defined this part of the California coast.
What lingers about Oceana Santa Monica is not any single detail but a cumulative feeling. The weight of a well-made door closing behind you. The morning light across a balcony. The quiet confidence of a property that understands luxury as space, as privacy, as the freedom to shape your own day without agenda. It is a hotel that operates with the discretion and warmth of a private home, and it leaves you with the rare sense that you have not merely visited a destination but briefly, genuinely, lived in one.

What we love about this stay
There's a particular quality to a hotel that doesn't try to compete with its setting but instead opens itself up to it — and that's the quiet confidence you feel here. The Italian marble, the clean-lined rooms flooded with afternoon light, the pool area with its fire pit softening the evenings — it all reads as considered rather than showy. Raphael Lunetta's kitchen anchors the experience in something genuinely local, the kind of cooking that reminds you Santa Monica has its own culinary identity beyond the boardwalk clichés. Grab one of the complimentary bikes and you'll understand the property's real pitch: luxury that never asks you to sit still. It's a place that feels like the best version of coastal California living, unhurried but never boring, and that balance is harder to pull off than it looks.

Oceana was the perfect hotel to spend on the last leg of my trip in LA. We relaxed by the pool and walked along the beach. It's quiet and the rooms are very spacious. The design is very pleasing to the eye. Everyone was friendly and professional - special thanks to Hakeem, Leonard, and Daniel. We will be back.

While indeed the property was beautiful however there are no handicapped accessibility’s. I phoned the property several times to be sure it could accommodate our 23 year old daughter I. Wheelchair. Her only way in and out of hotel was elevator thru basement parking garage in basement and the incline was so steep she couldn’t even propel herself. Also upon checking while all pre booked and quoted the final price we were charged an additional $2300.00. We stayed a week. I do realize the property was being remodeled however had they told me we would have looked elsewhere. And there was the morning at 11:00 and we were trapped on 3rd floors more than 3 hours with no way to get our daughter down as they were repairing the one elevator. Oh but during the elevator repair wait they did send food for us at no charge but we were trapped and if a fire had came we were trapped so for this reason alone putting our daughters life at risk for a week without any handicap ramps or entryways absolutely horrid and should be illegal. my rating is not good! Not handicap friendly and they don’t say the truth upon booking as I called them several times before I booked. The room also was absolutely not soundproof the first two morning we were waken next to our room construction at 7:00 am.for over ten thousand dollars this was definitely not what we were looking for. It took us 2 days to drive for this disappointment and they even charged vallet for such substandard handicap parking
