There is a particular kind of comfort that comes from a space designed not just for sleeping but for staying. ROOST Detroit occupies a place in the city where the energy of urban life meets the ease of a well-considered home, offering apartment-style accommodations that feel less like hotel rooms and more like addresses. The concept is simple in principle and thoughtful in execution: full kitchens, living areas, and the kind of square footage that lets you breathe, spread out, and settle in.
Each suite is outfitted with modern furnishings and the practical details that matter during longer stays. Fully equipped kitchens with full-size appliances invite morning coffee rituals and late-night cooking rather than another night of takeout. Dedicated living spaces and in-suite washers and dryers blur the line between travel and residency. The design leans clean and contemporary, with enough warmth to avoid feeling sterile. Whether booked for a few nights or a few months, the accommodations are built around the idea that extended time away from home should never feel like a compromise.
Detroit itself is the kind of city that rewards curiosity and time. Its creative resurgence has filled neighborhoods with independent restaurants, galleries, live music venues, and a civic energy that feels genuinely earned rather than manufactured. ROOST positions guests within reach of the city's cultural pulse, close enough to explore but removed enough to decompress. The surrounding streetscape carries the architectural weight and evolving identity that have made Detroit one of the most compelling American cities to spend real time in.
What lingers about ROOST Detroit is the rhythm it allows. Not the compressed itinerary of a weekend hotel stay, but the slower, more personal tempo of actually living somewhere. You grocery shop. You cook. You leave shoes by the door and notebooks on the counter. It is a property that understands travel is sometimes less about escape and more about transplanting your life, briefly and comfortably, into a city worth knowing.

What we love about this stay
What strikes you first is the tension between apartment and hotel — ROOST Detroit doesn't quite behave like either, and that's precisely what makes it interesting. The interiors lean into rich textures and a soothing palette that nods to the city's creative energy without mimicking it too literally. It feels designed for people who want to actually live somewhere, not just check in: fully equipped kitchens with real surfaces, space that breathes, the kind of layout where a quiet morning coffee becomes its own small ritual. There's a French restaurant on-site that takes local ingredients seriously, which is an unexpectedly thoughtful pairing with Detroit's culinary identity. The whole property carries this quality of being a genuine refuge within a city that's still writing its next chapter — and that resonance between place and moment is what lingers.

Amazing hotel! This was our second stay at the Roost. My husband and I decided to take a weekend getaway downtown. Devon upgraded our one bedroom suite to a one bedroom premium suite and it had the best views of city. Thank you Devon! We always have a great stay at this hotel. The weekend we went the weather was in the teens so we were able to have an amazing dinner at La Supreme and then an after dinner drink on the rooftop at Kampers. All without going outside! Highly suggest making reservations for Aladdin Sane (the speakeasy) and the other restaurants as they do fill up.

We came in town for Red Wings game/Federov jersey retirement ceremony. Spent two nights at Roost and had a terrific experience. The room layout was perfect for our needs, everything was clean and orderly. I would also say that the location relative to the downtown Woodward corridor is excellent, we actually walked back from LCA which took about 15 minutes-easy. I would highly recommend Roost.
