There is a particular stillness that greets you at the threshold of Shinta Mani Angkor, a feeling that the pace of the outside world has been gently set aside. Situated in the heart of Siem Reap, just minutes from the storied temples of Angkor, the hotel occupies a position that is both deeply connected to Cambodia's cultural epicenter and quietly removed from it. The architecture is contemporary and clean-lined, shaped by the vision of renowned architect Bill Bensley, whose hand is evident in every considered detail. Lush gardens frame the property's courtyards and walkways, creating a sense of enclosure that feels generous rather than guarded.
The rooms and suites are designed with an understated warmth that draws on Cambodian craftsmanship and modern comfort in equal measure. Natural materials, handwoven textiles, and locally sourced artwork fill the spaces without crowding them. Each room opens to views of the gardens or pool, and the overall effect is one of restful simplicity rather than ornamentation. The resort-style swimming pool serves as the property's central gathering point, its still water reflecting the surrounding tropical canopy and offering a place to decompress after a morning spent exploring the ruins. A spa on the grounds provides traditional Khmer treatments alongside more contemporary wellness therapies, drawing on local healing traditions to create an experience rooted in place.
Dining at Shinta Mani Angkor is centered on Cambodian and broader Southeast Asian flavors. The on-site restaurant presents dishes that highlight the region's produce and culinary heritage, with menus that shift with seasonal availability. Meals are served in an open, airy setting that extends into the garden, blurring the line between interior and exterior in a way that feels natural to the climate. The bar offers a curated selection of cocktails inflected with local ingredients, a thoughtful complement to long evenings spent lingering after dinner.
What distinguishes this property is not only its design or its proximity to Angkor Wat, but its deep engagement with the surrounding community. The Shinta Mani Foundation, integral to the hotel's identity, channels proceeds and programming toward education, healthcare, and vocational training for local Cambodians. Guests encounter this commitment not as a footnote but as a thread woven through the experience, from the staff whose training reflects the foundation's mission to the excursions and cultural programming that connect visitors with the daily life and artistry of Siem Reap.
Shinta Mani Angkor leaves you with something more lasting than the memory of a beautiful room or a well-prepared meal. It is the sense that travel, at its most intentional, can be both deeply personal and quietly purposeful, a place where the wonder of Angkor and the vitality of modern Cambodia exist not as spectacle but as something you are genuinely invited to be part of.

What we love about this stay
What strikes you first is the tension between where you are and how it feels — a property seated in the bustling center of Siem Reap that somehow delivers genuine stillness. The design threads traditional Khmer craft into contemporary spaces without making it feel like a museum; rich silks and smooth wood finishes carry real warmth rather than aesthetic obligation. There's a quiet thoughtfulness to the place, an ethos of mindfulness that shows up not in grand gestures but in how naturally the calm settles over you. Kroya restaurant feels like a genuine point of view on Cambodian cuisine rather than an afterthought, and the gardens have that rare quality of feeling tended with affection, not just maintained. It suits the kind of traveler who wants proximity to Angkor Wat without sacrificing a sense of retreat — someone who values atmosphere over spectacle and notices when a place has been shaped with intention rather than simply decorated.

Magical hotel in the heart of a pretty special place in the world. We had an absolutely amazing time here. It is rare to be surprised by a room, but we genuinely were taken aback at how amazing our Pool Villa was - wow - what an absolute gem. We were treated so well - a very special thank you to Van our amazing and kind butler.
