The Aster rises at the intersection of Hollywood and Vine, but its atmosphere belongs to a different register entirely. A 210-room design hotel occupying the upper floors of a striking mixed-use tower, the property greets you with a lobby that feels more like a curated living room than a conventional hotel entrance. Warm woods, considered lighting, and a palette drawn from the surrounding hills set a tone that is unmistakably Los Angeles yet deliberately removed from the noise below. Floor-to-ceiling windows frame the Hollywood Sign, the Griffith Observatory, and the sprawl of the basin beyond, giving the architecture a sense of openness that defines every corner of the guest experience.
Accommodations range from well-appointed guest rooms to spacious suites, each designed with residential ease in mind. Expect custom furnishings, tactile natural materials, and thoughtful layouts that reward longer stays. Many rooms offer private terraces or balconies where the city's golden-hour light becomes part of the décor. The effect is calm and grounded, a place where you settle in rather than simply check in.
Dining and drinking at The Aster center on a rooftop experience that has quickly become one of the city's most compelling. Bar Aster, the property's signature rooftop lounge, offers panoramic views and a cocktail program rooted in California's produce and seasons. It is the kind of place that draws both hotel guests and locals, buzzing without tipping into spectacle. Elsewhere on property, the food and beverage programming leans into Southern California's ingredient-driven ethos, with menus that shift with the market. A fitness center rounds out the amenities, and the hotel's partnership with nearby wellness and cultural programming gives guests easy access to experiences beyond the property walls.
Location is central to The Aster's identity. Hollywood and Vine places you within walking distance of some of the city's most storied cultural landmarks, from the Pantages Theatre to the Capitol Records Building. The Hollywood Walk of Fame unfolds just below, and yet the hotel's elevated perch provides a buffer, a vantage point rather than a front-row seat to the boulevard's bustle. Griffith Park and its network of trails sit a short drive north, while the restaurants and galleries of Silver Lake and Los Feliz are close enough for an easy evening detour. This is Los Angeles at its most layered, a neighborhood where legacy and reinvention coexist on the same block.
What lingers about The Aster is the way it reframes a familiar city. From its upper floors, Los Angeles loses some of its sprawl and gains clarity. The sunsets are unhurried, the mornings are quiet, and the energy of the city arrives on your terms. It is a hotel that understands the difference between being in the middle of everything and being consumed by it.

What we love about this stay
There's something quietly self-assured about a 35-room property that sits this close to Hollywood's loudest stretch and still manages to feel like its own world. The Aster leans into LA's energy without being consumed by it—contemporary and sleek, but with enough warmth in its textures and muted palettes that you actually exhale when the door closes behind you. It's a place that understands the city's duality: the desire to be in the middle of everything and the need to retreat from it entirely. Lemon Grove, the on-site restaurant, feels like an extension of that philosophy—California ingredients, local sensibility, no need to perform. What lingers is the scale of it: intimate enough that you're never anonymous, small enough that the curation actually holds.

First class property on the heart of Hollywood! I really enjoyed the amenities and the rooftop bar! Surrounding neighborhood is ecclectic (maybe even skchy) but the property is first class!
