The entrance is not grand in the way you might expect. There is no soaring lobby, no statement staircase. Instead, you step through a carved wooden doorway into a courtyard that has stood in some form for over a century, and the city falls away. The Chedi Al Bait, Sharjah occupies a collection of heritage houses in the Heart of Sharjah, the emirate's ambitious restoration of its historic core. The buildings date back generations, once home to prominent local families, and GHM has threaded them together into a single property that moves between courtyards, corridors, and intimate public rooms with the unhurried logic of a neighborhood rather than a hotel. Walls of coral stone and reclaimed timber frame interiors where traditional Emirati craftsmanship meets contemporary restraint. Wind towers rise above rooftops as they always have, and the effect is less renovation than recovery.
The property's 53 rooms and suites are distributed across the restored houses, and each one reflects the architectural character of the building it inhabits. Ceilings vary, proportions shift, and no two rooms feel interchangeable. Interiors are dressed in a palette of warm neutrals with dark wood, handwoven textiles, and carved detailing that nods to the region without resorting to pastiche. Some suites open onto private courtyards; others look across the rooftops of the old quarter. The design holds a deliberate stillness, as if the spaces have always been furnished this way.
Dining draws from the property's cultural surroundings. The Chedi's signature restaurant, The Restaurant, serves a menu that spans Middle Eastern and international cuisines, with ingredients and flavors that anchor you in the Gulf. The Lobby Lounge and courtyard spaces offer Arabic coffee, afternoon tea, and lighter fare throughout the day. A temperature-controlled swimming pool sits within the property grounds, and The Spa provides a menu of treatments in a setting that echoes the same material language found throughout the hotel: stone, wood, warm light, and an emphasis on quiet. There is a library, a fitness centre, and a series of gathering spaces that invite lingering without purpose.
The Heart of Sharjah surrounds the property with restored souks, art galleries, and museums that trace the emirate's history as a center of trade and scholarship. The Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilization and the Sharjah Art Museum are nearby, and the waterfront along Al Khan lagoon is a short distance away. This is a part of the UAE where culture leads, where the pace is deliberately slower than its neighboring emirates, and where the relationship between past and present feels less performed.
You leave The Chedi Al Bait with the sense that you have not visited a hotel so much as inhabited a quarter of a city that most travelers never find. The rhythm here is its own, measured in courtyard shade and the call to prayer, and it stays with you longer than any skyline view.

What we love about this stay
What strikes you first isn't the luxury — it's the quiet. The Chedi Al Bait is built within restored heritage buildings in Sharjah's old city, and that origin story isn't decorative; it's structural. Coral walls, intricate carvings, the sound of water moving through traditional Arabic fountains — these aren't design choices layered on for atmosphere, they're remnants of a place that actually existed. You feel it in the rooms, where handcrafted furniture and earthy tones sit alongside plush linens in a way that reads as genuinely considered rather than styled. This is a hotel for travelers drawn to cultural depth over resort spectacle, the kind of people who'd rather be in the heart of Sharjah's museum district than on a manufactured beachfront. What lingers is the sense that the building remembers something, and staying here lets you briefly be part of that memory.

Elegant, with every comfort thought of and the most attentive service. I can’t recommend this place enough. The heritage building and decorative details really give a sense of old world Sharjah, without any compromises in modern comforts. I hope to come back soon.

Simply extraordinarily amazing! This is an amazing hotel. The ambience, the attention to detail, the friendly staff, the location, comfort of the rooms. It is simply the best hotel I have ever stayed at, and I will not hesitate to recommend it to anyone who simply wants an extraordinary experience. My wife fell in love with this place, and has asked for a return to it again.

When my partner pitched the idea of a staycation in Sharjah I was skeptical. Though neither of us drink, and are unaffected by the fact the Emirate is dry, Sharjah didn’t strike me as the obvious place to go to for some R&R. How wrong I was… This hotel is a gem. A hidden treasure. This hotel is so good that I hesitated greatly before leaving a review, as I was worried that by being too well known it could lose its amazing features. But, as we enjoyed it so much we went a second time, it is unfair for me to not spread the good word on Beit al Shady. First off: you do not feel you are in the UAE. The layout of the hotel is such that you feel transported to another country, like Morocco or Tunisia. You are disconnected from the exterior which, during travel bans, is a Godsend. We really felt that we got out of the UAE, as the hotel is so atypical of the standard 5 star brand offerings in Dubai. Secondly, the customer service is unparalleled. We travel a lot, for business and pleasure often to places which are renowned for customer service. However, we have never felt such a strong personal touch in any of our stays anywhere else in the world (special mention to Rabi and Sushna). The staff make you feel like family, offering a human touch which is mostly completely absent in the UAE. They go out of their way to make sure you are having a good time, be that by making custom free mocktails to being on first named terms with you. We genuinely missed the staff when we left and they a
